Just to get the weight balanced better with all the weight of the motor and lower unit hanging off the back. I'm starting to remember setting the boats on a flat surface with a dowel underneath running left to right . Measuring from the transom forward to get the balance point.

I’m I made my own stainless tanks. The bracket on the transom was for 3rd channel carb adjustments.
