If I can get them to post, here's a series of pictures of the sponson build on a redesigned Dumas Pay'N Pak I built several years ago:
This first shot shows the framework as it initially was done. As can be seen, I added a 1/8" square glue block to the outside of the sponson chine but, at this point, nothing really lines up well
In this picture, you can see the framing was sanded down so that everything is flush. I also added a larger glue block at the front of the chine to give more area to epoxy the sponson side to

The third picture shows the sponson side added. What you can't see is that the frames were sealed with epoxy first to protect them from any water that might get inside the boat. Something else that is visible is that the bottom of the side panel has been sanded flush with the framing so that the bottom will lay flat on it, eliminating any gaps and keeping the bottom smooth.

This last shot shows the bottom added and sanded flush on all edges. It also shows the deck installed from the under side with how much overhang there is past the sponson sheer. Two things I can't stress enough is MAKE SURE THE BOTTOMS ARE INSTALLED WITHOUT ANY RIPLES OR NONFLAT AREAS AND DO NOT ROUND THE EDGES WHEN SANDING THEM FLUSH!!!!! Either one of these will suck the boat down and/or keep it from planing properly
