We are still moving forward with this effort......It is lookin' good.....
First time in the water run for the 2nd Zipp prototype
Second run.....Just changed prop .... probably picked up 5mph......needs a bit more set up time but we are very close......
This #2 prototype boat was rigged as an FE.....just because it was easier ..... the first prototype was nitro and it handled just the same.....we made some very subtle changes to the 2nd prototype and it did help the boats overall performance.......
The third prototype now being built was the first [possible production] boat out of the laser cutter and it is just about finished..... This boat will be sacrificial....after being tested again with as many runs as necessary , it is going to see the bandsaw.....This "bandsaw" effort will be done in three phases and testing after each change.....The "bandsaw" attack mission will be to simplify construction techniques , test an improved stumble block and finally improve the boats ability to resist blow-offs when it is set up loose and make the boat "stuff proof"......no more spear fishing with a 30" tunnel....These design changes will also really help the boat run in nasty water.....
A major design consideration has been is we want this boat , with confidence ,to finish 6 laps and come back to the beach.......
The final step will be to build the first and final "production boat"and functionally test that boat.....
With covid - 19 still flaming ......development time is really not a pressing consideration so we are taking the time to do it right......when the boat is finally released for sale it will have spent a lot of successful time on the water....
