What Has Republican Policy Actually Done For You?

So, healthcare, retirement, food, housing and education are "frivolous"?
Clinton over saw the biggest reduction in welfare spending and benefits so far, in US history.
A big part of the tax policy of Reaganomics is to shift the tax burden from the top 1% and big corporations, onto the working class. Any tax cut for the "rich" is an eventual tax increase on the middle class, as it forces localities to make up for lost federal revenue.
Kyle,

Nothing that compels the labor of another can be a "right". Nobody is denying anybody access to literally any of that. We all have the right to gain access to these capacities. Nobody has the right to force others to pick up the check for them.

You did get one thing correct though: "Any tax cut for the "rich" is an eventual tax increase on the middle class," just not the reasoning. It's a concept called opportunity costs. When employers are forced to pay taxes, it's money from their payroll budget that pays for it. The reason Clinton saw the greatest reduction in welfare spending in US history is because of the massive reduction is the number of people requiring the assistance, and the massive amount of available funds to cover the remaining costs. The reason the tax "burden" "shifted" from the wealthy to the middle class is because there were so many more taxable incomes within the middle class to collect from. The reality is that we all paid more because we were all collectively making more. This is probably the most significant difference between the Leftist perspective on the economy and that of the Right: The Right looks to increase the size of the pie. The Left looks to move the cuts in the pie. One way works. The other doesn't.

Thanks. Brad.

This thread can't handle 246+ years of American history. Your use of Madison (who still signed) is interesting. Were you attempting to diminish the value and concepts of the Constitution? Madison was not the only signer who had strong reservations. These men were risking everything by signing this document. No document since the early 1200's Magna Carta in an effort to limit governance had been more monumental.

This thread asked a question...I answered it for me as instructed. Actually there is such a thing as Laissez-faire or it would not have a definition. I did not claim the branches of our government practices it! I just wish they would practice it more often for consistency in both economic and social issues.
You should study James Madison a bit more, he was the main architect to the US constitution. He did not want the Bill of Rights. The constitution was created by the property/slave owning class for the property/slave owning class to protect the "opulent minority from the (propertyless) majority". In fact the revolutionary war was started not because of a tea tax, but because of a possible law coming from England that would of made slavery illegal, and the slave owners saw it as the government taking their property. Private property rights are an anti-right, as it subjugates those who do not own property (here is where the dipshits who think their house is "private property" chime in).

And there is no such thing as Laissez-faire, the corporations control the government, where it is Laissez-faire for those corporations, but corporate interest and government backed regulations on the individual and small business....
Mark,

I've heard/read this garbage before. They even try making guns and law enforcement about racism. It's about the only card they have left in their deck. It's getting VERY tedius.

Thanks. Brad.

Kyle,

Ah.... The old "private property" vs "personal property" baldly asserted myth. Gotta love it when those with a long and oft lost argument fabricates terms to try and recreate reality.

Thanks. Brad.

The problem with all of this is we use to be able to have civil and honorable discussions and even disagreements about these things. The country use to work that way. Having both sides in government use to be a way of balancing things. Now the discussion is all hyperbolic and driven by fear and anger, there is no respect for differing view points or desire to find common ground. “Truth” and “fact” is now defined as whatever you think is true and factual and any bit of information that proves you are wrong is just dismissed as a lie.

You’ve automatically decided who you think I am based on the fact that I don’t buy into the Fox/Tucker Carlson talking points.

There is literally no room for an actual conversation with 90% of people on here about this stuff. Pretend I never engaged in this forum.

Let’s talk about boats.

For the record, we may disagree but I would never claim to know anyone based on their opinion on a subject.
As far as Tucker Carlson goes, him and his associates are the only one's on TV that talk about the southern border. The White House denies there is an issue when the border patrol find semi trailers in the desert south full of dead bodies, drowning victims in the Rio Grande and thousands of illegal drug pills hidden in vehicles and on people that have come across the border. Then again, the White House denies that Joe knew anything about Hunter's overseas business dealings when there are pictures, witnesses and recordings that say otherwise so how can we believe the White House?

Okay, I know this thread is asking what REPUBLICANS have done for us but, after watching some videos this evening, I think a better question is "What has Joe Biden done for us lately?" I think this video says a lot on how the person that ran on the premise of unity and uniting the people of this country is actually trying to divide those same people:

Almost had to laugh at how he claimed REPUBLICANS are after nothing but power when his administration has opened the borders, made the US a joke in the eyes of many of the countries around the world, empowered China by selling them millions of barrels of petroleum out of the US STRATEGIC RESERVE SUPPLY and shipping them thousands of tons of coal every month(I see coal trains every day that are miles long going through my town to a port where it's loaded on ships to China so I know it's happening) while, at the same time, is doing everything he can to destroy the fossil fuel industry here in the US. And to think, Hunter Biden has a stake in the petroleum company that received the shipments from the US, so the Biden family made serious amounts of money off the sale that weakened the US' ability to keep itself running and, admittedly, is trying to force everyone into electric cars that will overload the electric grid that won't be able to supply power due to lack of fuel to run the generation facilities since they run on the very fuels the Biden administration is trying to kill, meaning the US will be forced to turn to China for the car batteries, solar panels and wind turbines that have already shown they can't do the job. What was also comical is that the cities that have gone downhill the fastest with violence and such were(and most still are) run by Democratic mayors, DA's and city councils due to letting criminals out of jail and not enforcing the laws. You didn't see that in Republican run areas. Not saying crime didn't go up in many areas, just that it wasn't as pronounced as in places like LA, Detroit, Chicago, Portland and such

Jarcaines,

This started when BHO decided the US needed to be transformed into a socialist country. It went off the rails when Trump came down the escalator. It isn't the Right who's decided that the middle was too far Left.

Thanks. Brad.

First part of your comment is easy to agree with... the Fox/Tucker BS subsequently just shows pure hypocrisy and liberal indoctrination.

Since Fox's inception as a cable news source, they have been #1 EVERY year. People, like Tucker, opine with intelligent, logical discourse and liberal tears flow.
That's what happens when people 'think' with their emotions.

And, oh, Constitutional Patriot's that understand the US, in reality, is a Constitutional Republic and NOT a democratic state. Democracy, in it's original, purest form, and proven by the Greek originators, failed.

And some of us don't play the 'pretend' game. No need to when living in reality.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am now making a concerted effort to not buy anything manufactured in China because of the crimes of the Chinese Communist Party. I mean where do you start? The genocide of the Uyghurs. The development of the Covid. The import of the precursor chemicals to the Mexican cartels to manufacture street Fentanyl. All possible courtesy of Biden's open border policies. For our part why in the world would we depend upon China for our pharmaceutical chemicals, computer chips and the countless manufacturing jobs we exported to them or letting them purchase our farmlands, especially those that are conveniently adjacent to our sensitive military installations? Of course, the answer is the almighty buck, coupled with the American corporations whose sole allegiance is to stockholders rather than their nation and fellow Americans. Since the Biden administration wants to spend money like drunken sailors, they should be offering low-interest loans to companies to build the infrastructure to manufacture the stuff we HAVE TO HAVE AND SHOULD NEVER SOURCE FROM OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY and tell the Chinese to piss off.

So, let me get this straight. We went to war in Afghanistan for twenty years over the 3,000 people we lost on 9/11, yet we take zero punitive economic action against the CCP for over a million Covid deaths and the 100K American deaths overdoses from Fentanyl last year. Something is very wrong here.

In my job as a transit operator here's what I see on a daily basis. People absolutly destroyed by this crap and we do-Nothing. I have actually been exposed to it on the bus and spent 5 hours in ER last spring.

Here's this happy couple passed out in a bus zone shelter. Why do you need an umbrella on a 90 degree day? So the smoke coming off the Fentanyl pill you are heating up on a piece of tin foil (between the guys legs) doesn't blow away before you can inhale through a straw that's in this guys hand along with a lighter.

Strap on in, the Klaus regime is fast approaching.

Sad world we live in anymore... guess that's what happens when the 'student' (or designed) thinks they're smarter than the 'teacher' (hence designer). Jus' sayin'.

Anyway, here's hoping ALL have a great Labor Day.

"So, let me get this straight. We went to war in Afghanistan for twenty years over the 3,000 people we lost on 9/11"

9/11 was a convenient excuse, we went into Afghanistan because big pharma (with the help of the CIA) saw a potential to develop an underground opium exporting network. Afghanistan is and has been the number one producer of opium in the world. Now what was all the rage at that time? Oxycodone. It was being hailed as the miracle painkiller and getting prescribed like candy. It is made directly from the thebaine alkaloid of opium. If they were successful the cost to big pharma for the needed opioid extract would have been a third of what it was. As usual just follow the money as it always leads you to the truth..............

If this thread was in another area of the forum, I would agree with you.
With that said, isn't this kind of thread what the off-topic area is for? Now, if it was turning into a running argument, I could see shutting it down. With the mid-term elections coming up in less than two months, however, I would hold off until after that point and then look at it again BARRING IT BECOMING HOSTILE. If that were to happen, then yes, lock it down at that point.
I can understand your point, Mark. This is a hobby forum and not a political one. At the same time, I would rather see a couple of threads in this area for us to vent in than have something similar show up in the rigger or sport and scale hydro areas.

Members,

I think there is no room for politics on a IW boating
message board. I have talked to quite a few members and
most agree with me. Maybe we should just close this
discussion?

Just My Honest Opinion,

Mark Sholund
Nope. This is the off topic forum and as long as it remains civil it's allowed. No one is making you click on this forum, you are here by choice.....

If it propagates furthering the already too wide of a chasm in this nation, then yes, it should be discontinued.

Mark and I have discussed this very matter recently. What makes that interesting is we both have different political views, yet both of us seem to be more centrist, and agree the commonality of these toy boats is paramount to political diatribe.

Just because one side is taking things to further reaching extremes does not make it Ok for opposing views to do likewise. The ramifications of such are indubitably not good.

Where does one's rights and freedoms end, and someone else's begin?...
Human emotions, in that context, inevitably end in a lose/lose scenario.

There comes a time in life where there is nothing anyone can do about a situation. With politics, all one can do is vote for what they think is the best choice. Sure, some will say that voting integrity has flown out the window.
But, the question remains... what are you going to do about it?...

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
And when confronted by a snake, there are but two choices- walk away from it, or kill it.
Choices demand accountability.

I like rc boats too much to get in any wars with like minded people on elements that are beyond our control.

The Administration at this site has notified me twice about becoming a 'supporting member', however, between the petty ass crap in the boating side of this forum, and the small handful of members who are corrupt and dishonest in their business dealings within the classified section, I'm rather reluctant to do so.

Frankly, I've about had my fill with all this online bullshit, especially social media. I've a life to live with the possibility of pleasures to enjoy and share... and divisiveness is not part of it.

Two sides of a coin... and I respect both sides.

Some people can disagree vehemently yet carry on in civility with more common interests. Others cannot.

Don, I think you know where I stand...
However, there are others here that hate me because they do not agree with my personal views and even refuse to do rc boat business with me because of it. That's their choice, and although they don't get it, certainly not my loss.

One particular individual, in this rc boat community, unfriended me on Facebook because they didn't like my sociopolitical views... even calling me a racist because I didn't care for a particular president. Well, I'm certainly intelligent enough NOT to vote for someone because of their ethnicity, gender, religion, skin shade, et al., but rather their moral and integral character. The same individual even blurted out that they were married to a 'black' person. Who cares!... It's about character!... so, that now begs the question, who's the real racist here???... DUH!... Frankly, I don't give a tinker's **** what shade of skin a person has. It sure as hell has nothing to do with character.

And, tell ya what... I sleep good at night. Real good, as a matter of fact.

Again, happy Labor Day to all!

Back at post 125, I made the following comment:
For the record, we may disagree but I would never claim to know anyone based on their opinion on a subject. That holds in who I do business with and will associate with as well. With that said, I have to agree, it's their loss, not yours. As far as calling someone a racist or unfriending someone on social media, again, it's their loss. Then again, I was told to leave a bar back in 1985 because my skin was the wrong color. That was in Meridian Mississippi so it shouldn't have surprised me but, after civil rights marches and all of that back in the 1960s, it did. Worst part was that I went in with and as the guest of an African American. Both of us were in the military when that happened, only to make it worse. Did it bother me, nope. Slept good that night and rarely think about it now either

Your two memes don't even agree with their own garbage.
Brad, sorry if I wasn't clear about the intent of my post.

If anyone gets their "news" from strictly one source, be it MSNBC or FOX, they are going to get that news provider's "slant/take/bias" on everything that goes on in the world. Basically a news SILO.

The graphic was intended to show that there were sites that weren't completely Left biased or Right biased...

Something towards the middle might be a better source of information? For both L and R. Rather than a MSNBC or FOX news silo?

Like I have said before:

The truth is somewhere between MSNBC and FOX....
