Time to seal the new boat-I was advised to use the west system epoxy. Just have a few questions-1. Best price I've found was https://storeusavediscountmarine.com 28.61 for quart 105 resin and 13.34 for .44 pint hardener 5-1 mix. 2. How hazardous is this stuff? I've only got a few brain cells left and I'd like to hang onto them. Should I rent some time at a local body shop spray booth? 3. What to use for clean up? acetone? 4. How much should I mix at a time? 2.5 oz resin to .5 oz hardner? 5. Do you guy's squegee or brush this stuff on? Thank's, Glenn

Looks like a good price, id brush it on and use a heat gun hair dryer to warm it up on the boat till you can get as much to run off as possible. When you mix it warm the epoxy in warm water set the can in warm water for 20 minutes mix apply heat up and do it all one more time after it cures. Then i scrape the boat with a single edge razor blade taking care not to gouge the wood. Im sure others will chime in with other ways to do it. what are you building? Mike

Thank's Mike, I spent part of one winter in Indiana-fort Harrison- almost as cold there as it is in northern Utah-do you use the 205 or 206 hardner in the winter? The new boat is a 1973 pay&pak. Thank's, Glenn

Guys, Thin the epoxy with denatured alcohol. Not too much or it will affect the glues in the ply. Don't heat it... that makes it go off too quick. apply numerous coats. don't try to do it in a hurry. take your time and you'll do better. good luck. Bob

Namba276, that is exactly what the West Systems website says not to do. It affects how well the epoxy will set up, how hard and how water resistant it will be. You might get away with it, but I wouldn't recommend doing it or advising others to do so. Just my opinion.

Use the extra slow 209 for sealing so heating it up won't make it cook off as easily. You could also try the 207, it's faster than the 209 but will still give you more working time than the 205 or 206
