This old 45 Eagle was given to me by my buddy Lupe Perez.
It was under his bead for many years just collecting dust so he brought it to the pond one day and said here have it and do some thing with it.
So I did......LOL
Have a new in the box CMB 45HR to stick in it.
Not to many boats I would spend the time to re do but this one deserves the effort.
There where only a few made like this from what Andy told me.
This one came to lupe by the way of Stan Simpson.
This may be the only one left.
I removed all the paint from the sponsons to see how it was made. then popped all the wood off but the boom side sheet.
The PVC foam was perfect.
Then I redid it just like it was first made.
Put a new transom in it and resealed the tub after making a few small repairs.
Next will be the mock up.
This has bin a fun little project in between the Zeagle build up.
Will see how this eagle flies soon.

I scraped off all the old epoxy with a razor blade first. then I sprayed it down with CRC Lectra-Motive cleaner.
Lectra-Motive® Electric Parts Cleaner, 19 Wt Oz
Tetrachloroethylene
The CRC sucks all the old oil out of the wood.
You have to be carful using it on some plastics it will suck the petroleum out of it and it will crumble.
Same thing thy use for dry cleaning.
You know it is good stuff if it is made in PA and band in Wackofornia.
I used Z pox finish epoxy to pickel it all then started to make repairs.

You might consider K2r, it’s a dry cleaner spot remover product that works really well. It’s better than soaking in acetone, which I used on gun stocks for many years until a friend referred me to K2r for balsa soaked in fuel in an airplane. I made the switch and never looked back! Available at most ACE hardwares.
Thanks John

All done with repairs and pickling.
Will mount the hard wear on the back and the needle set up next.

Not near as good as the CRC.
K2r is nothing but METHYL ACETATE and ACETONE.
Try the CRC Lectra-Motive you will never use any thing else.
Also my great Uncle Charly had a dry cleaning shop so it brings back great memories.

Can look at tub cracked line. Need cover thin wood or fibreglass
It has bin fixed before I got it.
Has glass on the inside corner to support it and I installed corner blocks.
I will pin the blocks and the transom be for I paint it.

One nice fix for making any gas or nitro boat look new again in the engine & fuel compartment area is to clean and then coat with Duplicolor Automotive Trunk Paint. The product is available in 3 colors & holds up very well to both fuels. If you prefer you can then put on a coat of West Systems Epoxy but if so I would recommend using the Clear Hardener so it does not yellow your job.

Got it all back together and set up on the table.
Came in great 0deg all across the board with no shims and rear shoes on the table.
Will run it like this to see where I am at.
Have to fit the cowl and the pipe when I get one.
Hope to run it next weekend in Melbourne at the 1 day race.

Got the Zip Kits 40 cowl all fitted up.
Love the cowl it is made long and wide enough to fit most any rigger.
Very nice lay up also not many if any at all pin holes in them.
Make a new turn fin and mount the pipe is all that is left.
