Any ideas to advantages/disadvantages by having a rudder closer or further from the transom and vertical or angled to the centreline (say 10 degrees)

I like mine to be close in and out of the propwash. If you need leverage, use a stronger servo.

So looking at the transom, if the rudder blade was angled anti clockwise (bottom of rudder was at 5 oclock instead of 6) what would this cause/effect?

Twin Craft use to run some of their boats setup that way. Maybe John Finch,Dick Tyndall will chime in. I would guess if they were doing that to their boats,it was to help boat go faster through the turns.
