Looking to put a Y21 (gas) together. When it comes to the hardware what direction should I go, Speedmaster, Zip Kits, Gizmo? I’ve read where some of the custom transom drives are no longer available (Buck) but Gizmo has one available. Do I get certain parts from 1-3 places or keep all the same mfg. Thanks for any help.

I just put one together. I used the TFL copy of the Buck drive. I had to rework it to tighten up the bolt holes so adjustments would be repeatable. TFL 6 inch rudder assembly, I made a new base to get the outside bolts away from the stringer. And 2" Speedmaster tabs. All hardware is installed as per the dimensions on the web site. Runs great. The gizmo kit for the S45 Should work well or buy the individual Speedmaster parts. You will need to move the rudder out a bit to get the bolts clear of the stringer.

I like this insert drive. No collet needed. I run square drive on the motor side. The insert makes it very easy to clean and relube drive line after a days running. I run a double sided threaded prop shaft with a locking ferrel and jam nut on the other side of insert. No loss of props from loose/spun/broke cables.
