Well, in a continuation of breaking into the gas market, several things are being worked on. I am working on a glass race gas mono hull, plug to mold, and two new kits...an all new gas sport hydro design, working with Octavio @ CP Mods to get his CPKat 43 and 46 molds redone so we can get those back on the market and what this thread will cover, the RSX-480 Gas Outrigger. This started as a request from a local racer, looking to try something new, and I gave in. With his help, we are moving forward. I designed the kit, and got one cut, now working on the build. This is an abreviated thread, as I have a full thread over on JRCBD and too much typing to redo it all, so I will just show off some framed pics, and some from where we are right now with it. Testing should begin very soon. We are also about to begin some mild changes in the kit to allow for a twin inline engine as well. The initial test of that will be with a 63.5cc full mod twin..that, should be crazy!

Here is where we are at right now. I am waiting for some new Duratec primer to show up tomorrow, so I can move forward with the cowling plug to mold. The hull itself is about ready! I painted it up with white sponsons, decals, and Chartreuse Neon HOK paint.

Here are some pics of the all new gas mono I designed and built, and will mold it soon to begin testing. 48" in length.

I would suggest making a full canopy Cowl for the mono incase someone wants to run it in Offshore Namba. Beautiful work!

Here is the 2nd version, the RSX-470. This will be the first test boat of the redesign. More soon! Mike

A new gas sport thread will be started in a few as I started the build this week! I CA the parts, then epoxy them for strength, and add carbon where needed!

Here is the rigger. Got the decks on middle of last week, but left for vacation. I will be sanding, and adding more epoxy this week, then painting and rigging!

My guy in Hawaii, he has the boat into the 70's, and it likes rough water, but had some twist in the tub and he felt it was a little excessive. That was his only complaint, even tho he still likes the way the boat runs, and how it handles.

My local tester loved the way it ran through the rough water, and turns, but wanted the boat to be more free in calm water so it was more capable of top end speed.

No handling complains actually.

The main difference is overall, its trimmed up to remove weight, the center tub has been modified dramatically to make it stronger, build easier, and free the boat up. The sponsons have been trimmed some in the ride pad area, to free it up in calm water, but not so much it will suffer in the rough stuff.

This was mainly small things here and there, all done together to make a more refined design. If it is where we want it this time, then I will move forward with it, if not, I will modify it again!
