I would like to put in a pressure tap fitting to Lube my Thunder Tiger 21 outboard cable. I am wondering if other boaters have drilled and tapped the lower end for a grease Zert. Should I b aware of any problems before proceeding? I would use STP mixed 50/50 with motor oil for lube. Thanks for the help.

I have drilled and installed a tap on K&B, Irwin, and Lawless lowers, OS lowers have the oil tap already. and all 11 of my 3.5 and electric sized outboards are now equipped with the oiler and resevoir from Stumpfab Mfg. They are a great and friendly supplier with fantastic items and fast shipping.

The thunder tiger is designed for a liquid lubricant..(oil)..thats why there is a chamber on the lower unit...i have seen some replace the hole plug with a fitting and use a remote oiler..but why...the boat runs on a tank of fuel for what...8-9 minutes...just refuel and put more oil in the lower unit....i know it seems like an inconvenience...but it only takes a minute without all the other "stuff"....

Hi Robert. I am not sure where to put the lubricant. Do you inject it in the muffler itself through the hole where the exhaust exits? I know that the flex shaft runs inside a teflon tube like the K&B OB. I am not sure how the oil would get to the cable. Thanks for the clarification.

Les...here is a pic of the T.T. outboard...
And the fill hole for the shaft and gear lubrication....

I need to either locate a prop shaft without having to sell my house....or just sell the whole thing.

Les....here are a couple pics of the T.T. opened up.. The oil reservoir is where the gear is....and if you look close where the Prop shaft threads are, is the oil port from the stock muffler...if you modify the lower for a tune pipe... either a remote oiler is needed or chamfer the hole slightly and use a micro grease gun to oil the Prop hub...hope this helps
