My Lawlees 3.5 FE arrived yesterday. Very nice piece, much lighter than the TFL knock-off I have. I like the low CG electric set-up and laid back drive angle. Hope to try it out Saturday! Thanks Fred...

Oh my..i was looking at Bob Zola pic again and noticed the Cav. Plate....a huge prop can now be used...

Once again, I have another creative boater to thank for a great idea. The suggestion for boring the hole down the center of the drive came out of the blue and I am ashamed of myself that I don't recall who made it. I think it makes sense and does keep the CG lower. If anyone has a drive and wants this procedure done, I can convert your drive very quickly. Call or e-mail me directly for details. My website is not set up to take orders.

I appreciate the compliments, but I think some folks might be getting a little impatient with me. To anyone who has placed an order and not received their drive. I must ask your indulgence. My wife has been very ill over the last 3 months and I have lost a lot of time in the shop to finish and send out orders. She is waiting to have a medical procedure in early August that should relieve a lot of her problems. Meanwhile, it is back and forth to doctors and specialists every few days, including later today. One of my CNC machines decided to go on vacation early this month and I have been spending what little spare time I have trying to fix it. On top of that, I just got a jury summons. Things have been rather complicated this summer. Apologies to all and I am trying my best to get things caught up. Thanks.

Fred, your the nicest man ever involved in our hobby, with intelligence beyond most of us. I pray for you, your wife and family. I can sympathize with you getting hit from all sides. I am a blessed man but the last six years have been one major thing after another for me and my family. Now we all are all under the Covid cloud and it seems it will never end. I cherish the many talks we have had over the years, and am proud to have won many championships with your gear. God Bless, and speedy health to your family. Colonel Beasley

Thank you for the well-wishes. We are getting through it one day at a time. The worst part right now is waiting another month to have the heart procedure done. Looking forward to the day and seeing improvement afterwards.
Thanks again,
Fred

I sent you one of your drives that I modified six years ago. I’m Been doing this modification to K&B & OS since the 90s. I don’t think I was the first person to do it.
Greg, you may not have been the first to do it, but I think you were the first one to suggest it to me. Thanks for helping to make the product bettter and more useful for many other boaters.
Fred

Really liking the lowered motor mount. Besides the milling work what else would I need for this?

Ray, I don’t know what size motor that you are running. But, the machined out Lawless drive will limit you to a 36mm motor. There is a cooling can clearance issue with anything larger than 36mm. You can possibly mill the top off enough for clearance on larger motors. This is the 3.5 drives that I am referring to.

Good to know, thanks.

Should be easily able to make is clearsa 40mm can motor with a cooling can... maybe not an 'off the shelf' can though...mine does anyway?

(couldn't find a full picture of unit quickly, so this will do)

BTW, I think the first person I saw to do with was Randy Naylor or even Dennis W? Again, not sure who was the chicken or the egg ;-)

Thanks Fred for the fast service and the recommendation for the longer Hyperperformance prop shaft, now I can run some different props.

Always glad to help and I don't mind mentioning other suppliers who I can count on to do the same.
