OK I got my 67/84 short kit and it looks killer.
Love the size of it for the CMB Black case gold head .77 eng I will build up for it.
Have the glass table all cleaned off and will get some new 1/4" 2x2 angle for the jig.
The build looks quite strait forward as far as the tub assembly.
There are no provisions for the motor mount location in this kit. also the stuffing tube has no pre-drilled holes.
Also the sponsons have no predetermined holes for the turn fin location.
also no boom tubes in the kit.
So there is quite a bit of freedom to do as you please.
So with that said What is the consensus on how wide of a track and the placement of the turn fin.
Also where the CG is best suited to this boat design.
It is 30" from end of planing surface to the transom on this boat.
That is longer than my SG 90 boat by 1"
So this boat dose have a nice long track.

Nice Dave is that where the OPS 1.2 is going.
Will see.......I have a new old stock black case gold head CMB .67 and two sets of .80 P/L for it to start off with.
That OPS 1.27 I think would be a bit to much for it....LOL

Well my SGX pivot block fit in the Zip-kit steering mount.
I can use my Steve Wood 1.5 rudder blade on this boat.
Just need to make a new mount for the Zip kit strut now to get the prop behind the BIG blade.
This will all mount on a 1/8" aluminum plate in place of the 1/8 wood on the out side of the transom.
Will also add a 1/4" ply as a backer to the transom and pin it to the tub sides.
"ZIPPY" is come right along nicely..............

I think you may find that you don't need a wide rudder blade to turn a JAE. They turn on a dime and give you a nickel back. 1" is more than enough.
It is not to help it turn it is to keep the prop from walking the ass end side ways when going strait.

I am just waiting to see a video of how well this cmb77 runs ,,I remember you speaking of the engine years ago..
I had one in my 39" cal craft for a while.
I ran two classes with that boat at the same race.
Would swap out the .77 with a RS.45 in between heats. Had to swap drive lines also 3/16 to 1/4 for the .77 with a MAC .550 carb on it.
Gave that eng to Marty Davis to play with.
That boat was CRAZY with that eng in it.
First time I meet Jerry at a race I had that eng in that boat.
He casually walked over to it and ogled it.
Then looked at me and said one of those boats went 95 in California.
We have bin good bud ever since.

OK I have the transom mock-up all done.
This blade is .020 thinner at the back side than the 1" blade that zip kit sells.
So it shows a narrower profile to the on coming water at a very shallow angle of attack.
But side ways it show a much larger profile to keep the boat from prop walking side ways.
I like this new strut thy sell. The lead Teflon bushings will press right in to it.
I made my own strut mounting bracket to move the strut back to line up with the wider rudder.

OK got the tub all sorted out.
Now time to make up my mind on eng and fin placement.
Eng will be 3 5/8" from boom tube at a 7 Deg angle and the fin will be at the far back of the sponson.
This will put the fly wheel in the center of the sweet spot on the fin.
So any input on this before I commit to it????
