I have a mess to clean up but watching the local news footage from a helicopter flying around the Sanibel causway has sections totally gone. The island will be isolated for a long time. 50-60ft boats piled on top of each other in marinas. We had 140mph winds in my Neiborhood. Older buildings destroyed but 90% of the houses have roofs intact. Building codes here are working.

Have not heard of any fatalities on local news so far so good.

John bass I spoke to at 10:30 Wednesday night he had just got back home. And was good. Haven’t heard from him since.

SE Florida was pretty much spared. Just rain and wind up to 40mph And a few Small
Tornados touch downs. But nothing like the west coast.
What about Gizmo? I have an order with them that I was hoping would be here before NAMBA nats. Sent them an email today to see the statis.

Sweet, good to hear. So he should be able to get it out to me. Hopefully shipping wont be too hampered by the hurricane.

All good at my place, just caught the outer band with wind and rain. So lucky to have a concrete home on a slight hill. Praying for those south and east of me that it's only property damage and no loss of life.

Sanibel , FT Myers, Boca Grande , Pine Island , Matlacha pretty much destroyed . 2.5 million without power , Sanibel causeway destroyed only way on or off the island . Many feared dead . Recovery will be years and never return to it's old lustre after this .https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=6425834267433797&set=a.556808327669783

Just got our interwebs back up here in S.Tpa and frankly I have a case of survivors guilt - This thing was headed straight at us in the Tampa Bay area , and it would have fricking leveled us as bad or worse than my friends South of us got. We where mentally and physically as prepared as you can be at the time to loose everything being on the southern most tip of Tampa just outside MacDill AFB ,and at the end of the day - we never lost power, a crapload of yard debris and a day without internet. Big whoop- But we are safe / alive and we have our home completely intact.
Prayers go out to those who got hit - I truly feel for you , Mic glad to hear your okay- you guys got f-ing hammered , an experience I never want to live thru. Maybe its my age - or maybe Im just getting soft, but the wife and I had serious talks about AWAY from the water and this tiny peninsula we live on and count our selves lucky after 56 years of dodging storms- Maybe its time to rethink and let some rich f-ck buy it and learn his lesson.
Im prepparing for 16 days straight/ 14hr days at work restoring our cable plant. It should take my mind off it for now.
God Bless and be safe guys and gals, JJ please let us know your okay after that bastage runs its course.
Love you guys - Thanks for being here.
