How did the cracker box get its name ?

Hi all just talking to friend he asked me why this boat is called a cracker box i had no answer for him . How did the cracker box get its name ? Regards Andris Golts.

I have been researching this for some time...and the information is very fragmented at best...we all know that it was formed after the Great war....with small block chevy engines
Most were home built...and according to APBA the "P" is the oldest class...cbraracing.com still has major racing in this class and there web site has a historical area that is still under construction...that's all I have from a couple years looking for info on this...I'm sure someone will chime in and give us an "Education "
