Hi I'm restoring a Hotshot 3.5 just to be a shelf queen (as the frame makes cracking sounds when rubbing it down I suspect it was made with plane cement) what was the factory box art colour scheme ? how do I clean the motor? the leg was easy and looks better. The hull was stripped right back to bare wood it had been painted with multiple colours including the leg. Any help would be appreciated Regards Daren

Outside of the engine can be cleaned up by spraying it with Gumout carb cleaner. I would take that engine completely apart and check the piston/sleeve and bearings.

Cleaned it up soaked in metho, then ultrasonic bath followed by a sodablast after filling the openings with blu tac Ta Daren

Nice resto job....i like the newer style 13mm engine on the old style clamp in prop hub lower...i have a never run short skeg lower in my parts box..both run well...and I do wish the short skeg had the screw in style prop hub..
Looking good...

Hi some progres it's now in white acrylic paint, a lot of filler and a lot of sanding so far now to mask it for the colour I like my builds to match box art or a scale boat. Do I need to sand the white before the next colour if so what grit ? thanks Daren

If the paint is a rattle can.. (400-600 wet).yes...It usually always helps to have a sanded and cleaned surface to apply color to.. Then mask next color..repete..then..after all color is applied...some like to do a very light 600-1000 sand to smooth out all the color segments and then apply clear....then its like glass...thats my preferred method...

Hi it's still in white, (Covid-19 has lifted enough for me to work again so working 6 days a week 60 hours total each week) I will give it a scuff next week and add the stripes photos soon Ta Daren
