Tom, Kv is usually described as RPM/volt though there's probably more to it than that.
So... a 1600Kv motor with 4S battery (~4v per cell or 16 volts) will turn 25,600 RPM unloaded. RPM=Kv*volts
Is that what you're looking for, or do you want to know how a motor's Kv is determined? You'll need someone smarter than me for that.
