Flex shaft ?

Hi all has anyone ever tried using a flex shaft for straight angle drive shaft? On my 24 inch cracker box i am trying a straight prop shaft running underneath the hull but could not find a straight enough piece of 1/8 inch stainless rod for a solid shaft so i installed a .130 flex cable in a 3/16 inch brass tube and a brass bushing at the prop end ? We used to run flex shafts in a straight tube in our 6 cell cracker boxes years ago. Worked fine.
