Hello everyone...well in the name of tuning I equipped my cat with a RPM reader and while thats all good...not knowing the speed is only part of the equation....so I was looking for a GPS for the boat....and there are many...from stupid expensive to dirt cheap....but all I need is speed...no fancy maps or lat/Lon info....just speed....so I came across the Dynamite unit....has anyone else had tested this....

I have one . I picked it up when I bought my Zelos Twin 36. Honestly I'm still trying to figure it out. When I tried to use it the last time I didn't wait for it to aquire the satellites and closed it up in the boat and when I brought it back in nothing. Make sure you know how to use it before you need to use it. LOL

Also if I remember right I downloaded an app for it on my computer and used the app to set it to MPH from KPH.

I downloaded a speedometer GPS app on my phone. I tested the app as I drove my car and found it to be consistent with my dash speedometer. I double ziplock my phone and secure it inside the hull. Works pretty good.
Of course, if the boat were to suffer a catastrophic crash, I could lose the phone. Lol

A Garmin Etrex 10, 20 or 30 is hard to beat for standalone gps in the boats. You can pick up new discontinued or refurbished units at a discount.

Hey guys...the software to use this this is kinda straight forward...not much to change on the unit...the 2.0 version comes USA standard measurements...only the refresh Hz is changeable...not to sure how to save the file..the file extension is different...unit was $99 plus tax at my LHS and so far its been worth every penny..i was using my phone in the zip lock baggy until it came in contact with the tuned pipe...this little item is small and I made a foam cradle that secures it..so now with this GPS and my tinytack im a tuning fool..here is a pic of the software...oh...im in the 60mph club now...
Oh and Paul...i did mess with it prior and yes...it takes a little getting use to to operate...simple but easy to loose everything also
