Hi Team Alaska! Just stumbled upon this. Never had a good reason to visit Alaska. Perhaps now there is. Beautiful scenery and write up!

Your fearless leader is having a great time in Hawaii soaking up the warm weather, warm water and sandy beaches in addition to going model boating while visiting! Hope he still has some money.....

Charles,

Do you have a race schedule yet for this summer? I'm probably not going to have time to build a boat to race this summer but would like to at least try to make it out to watch one of the races.

Also, what are you most popular classes? I picked up a CMB VAC 21 and Picco P-90 so will be planning to build JAE's for those engines, and then possibly a 45 and or a 67.

Hi Paul welcome aboard we have not organized dates yet. We will start fun runs and test and tunes as soon as the ice goes out. As far as classes 45 and 90 are the most popular here but if you want 21 is next you would be the 3rd 4th it Richard shows up. You need a current NAMBA card and I have some disclaimer papers for the land owner. It would be geat if you could come to the meeting so we can include your input on race dates. As for boats Aron Tim and I may have a boat for sale almost Ready to run if your interested and there are plenty her on IW that all you have to do is ask lol. Call me and we ca talk more or come by the house thanks Charlie

Charlie,

Thanks for the warm welcome! As much as I'd like to bang out a boat or two and go racing this summer, my plate is pretty full. I pulled my full size boat into the garage to make some repairs and improvements and I just got started on that, need to catch some fish this summer and I'm sure my wife and kids are going to encourage me to finish our basement and I'm sure my lovely bride would like me to do some more work on the yard. You know how fast summers come and go

But knowing my habit of getting distracted by hobbies

and having printed out the plans for the JAE 90 (well all the plans) I could see myself heading over to my friends shop to rip some plywood and cut out some templates and it's easy enough to order a JAE 21 kit. So there is a chance I'll have a boat by the end of the summer, especially with the P-90 showing up today, I'm sure that will be a decent motivator.

BTW, do you know if hardware specialities or anyone else stocks 1/16", 1/8" or 3/16" birch ply? I'd like to get a full size 4'X8' sheet of each. I have plenty of fairly large scraps of 1/4" meranti from building my boat so will be set for building tub sides and transoms. I also need to order some more epoxy and fiberglass for my fullsize boat so will make sure to order a bit extra co cover more than a few rigger builds.

Most of the places in town are carrying 1/4" and above the anchorage house of hobbies is the main place for plywood but nothing larger than 48×12" but Ryan probably order anything you want. I just got some in for my twin and it was pretty fast and nice.

Motor nice Joe Warren and Andy Brown can answer the questions on the rod issue off the top of my head.

Ok guy's meeting Saturday 4/29

6pm my house. Working on race dates and a welcoming of Paul Hail thanks Charles

First Heat race. Well with everyones summer schedule we finally completed our first race. It was a beautiful day with temps in the 70s. Tim was able to secure a 1st overall with his 45 JAE. While Charlie's boat was fast his 3 1sts with one DNF allowed Tim to win by 50 points for the class.

Rods excellent running CMB 90 SGX allowed him to dominate our F class race, good job Rod!!

We missed Aron and Paul, hope you guys can make the next race.

Tim, somehow working a rotation hasn't resulted in as much free time as I'd expected. Hopefully I'll find some time to put the 45 together to at least get some testing in this season, though doubtful I'll be ready to race.
