I still need to figure out how I am going to adjust the trailing edge of the wing yet. I would like something adjustable. Might make some thin angles with slotted screw hole that can slide up and down. Still chewing on it for now. The strut connection at the top are jsut eyelet crimps like you would use for electrical wires. I jsut solder them onto the 4/40 rod.

Still working on canopy for now. My first idea was I was just going to tape it to keep it in place. Right between the canard and hull. I have since come up with another idea that I am tossing around. I could mount a bulkhead at the back of the canopy. Inbed some maginets and put a pin up on the front of the canopy. Its doable. Just need to set some time for it.

So got the canopy and cowl mounted. Even mocked up the driver. I was thinking to mount driver to canopy. But it seems like a lot of trouble. Might just make a flat plate and velcro to radio box lid. Need to add some foam floatation in the front. 20210214_112907.jpg20210214_112925.jpg20210214_112955.jpg

Got so more done this past weekend. Finally got around to post it. Built turn fin bracket and support. Also got the stuffing box epoxied in. Mocked up the wire drive. Then traced it against cardboard. Took piece of brass tube and matched that bend on cardboard. Now wire floats in the center of tubing. 20210221_125933.jpg20210221_125922.jpg20210221_125902.jpg

Man after going through your build , I’ve came to the conclusion that I want to build my first hydro. I’m 37 years old and just getting into rc boats but I’ve built many rc airplanes and also been flying jets and helicopters for about ten years. I’ve also ran a CNC machine at a custom cabinet and appliance woodworking shop for many years so I think I can pull this off. I’m just going to need some help waterproofing and painting but that’s a ways out right now.
if you don’t mind me asking, what company did you order your kit from and are there some easier to build then others for newbies??? Thanks Scott

ML boatworks. They make several laser cut kits. They start at around $100 (thats just the skeleton) sheeting is another $60. 3/16 sticks $5.
Mike makes his kits pretty easy to understand.
This is one im building right now

Month and a 1/2 ago I was able to put some paint down. I got the grey down for primer. I put a light coat of rattle can white with no issues. Then I put a slightly heavier coat of white and the whole thing fish eye and bubbled. Just made a mess of it So I got all pissed off and walked away for a couple of weeks. That's what I get for shooting the cheap sh.t. Not gonna happen again, shooting PPG concept now. Came out much better this time. 20210417_115415.jpg

Those fish eyes could happen with the best paint also.(ask me how I know). In my experience if you spray wd40 (or any oil based spray) in the same room where you are painting you will get fish eyes. Prepsol or equivalent is always a must!

After the first coat went down, it looked more pink than orange. 4 coats later, she is nice and flour orange. Hanging in the trailer to cure for a couple of days.

Looks great Mike. Mine should be done by June at the latest
