2022 marks the 50th Anniversary of the very first NAMBA Nationals event held at Legg Lake in 1972. This celebration will be hosted at Roberts Lake in picturesque Seaside California by Central Coast Model Boaters providing a unique destination event for spectators and participant. We are honored to have partnered with Horizon Hobby to bring Pro Boat and Spektrum on as presenting sponsors for what is always the most important race on the NAMBA calendar where competitors race for class National Championships as well overall and power-based High Points Awards.

You will find no better place for such an important event as Roberts Lake in Seaside California. Seaside’s convenient location gives residents and visitors an opportunity to experience all of the amenities that the Monterey Peninsula has to offer from wine tasting to whale watching… and everything in between. Explore the breathtaking beauty and abundant sea life of the Monterey Bay by Hiking, Biking, Kayaking, Parasailing and Scuba Diving. For Land lovers there’s world class golf at the immaculate Bayonet and Blackhorse Courses… or if you prefer, just take a stroll down the pristine Seaside Beach and wiggle your toes in the sand. That sand is easily accessible being a short 7 minute walk from the race site and made even easier with the host hotel, Monterey Tides, being on the oceanfront featuring spectacular views of the Monterey Peninsula. You will find that the event schedule leaves time to explore this amazing area and take in the many things it has to offer.

Roberts Lake was once a tidal estuary, but development and fill for the coast highway cut off ocean influence. Still the lake is visited by waterfowl year-round. The freshwater lake is named for Dr. John Roberts, one of the founders of Seaside. It is no stranger to the National Championships. It was was first held in 1977 and again in 1992. Many great racers have come from the Roberts lake including past Multi-National Champions Mr. Bill Webster and the entire Power Family of Howard, Beverly and young girl, Jennifer Power. Roberts lake is looking to spawn a generation of champions this year however so the best is yet to come.

You won't want to miss the always special events including the BBQ Paddleboat Race and a truly unique Welcome Party held inside the barn of Monterey Touring Vehicles where you will enjoy conversation with family and friends among an iconic group of vehicles rentals spanning from the 1927 Bugatti to the 2008 Tesla Roadster and many cool rides in between. Exclusive to this party will be a raffle for a half day car rental. More details to come.

Controlled open water will start Thursday October 13th at 12:00 pm and run through 5:00 pm. On Friday October 14th controlled open water will be offered for all boats from 8:00 am through 3:00 pm at which time only classes running on Saturday October 15th will be allowed until 5:00 pm. If time permits, non-controlled open water will be available at the end of each day for only the classes that run the following day. NAMBA rules apply throughout this event.

RC Boat Racing National Championships coming to the Central Coast Section of California for 7 days. Are you entered? For Spectators. Come watch some of the best in the country converge on Seaside CA for head to head competition. In addition, 6 lucky spectators will be selected from a raffle to participate for a Hobby-Grade Electric RC boat of your own. Be sure to check it out.

will be great event at a uniquely beautiful location

No kidding! I was in Monterey in May for a conference (first time in CA), and had to go to Seaside to pick up a colleague....I heard them out there running, and I was immediately jealous. That is a beautiful place to do anything. I can imagine that you all are experts at handling the wind!

Hope this event goes well, I'll be paying attention. Wish that I could make it!

Thank you to everybody who has entered and the impressive list of sponsors.

Where are the safety nets? Maybe they're not needed due to the style of bank. The end of the second video shows someone knitting about 15 feet from the waters edge.

This Bald guy sitting near the waters edge is me. I was there for 2 days and never once did I fear a boat making its way through the thick reeds and brush. My girlfriend, who was the one crocheting, said all you guys had to do was ask and she could have made you some nets 😂
