Are you filling the stuffing tube? I do 4-5 (A hydro) to 8 (Thunderboat) pumps on my grease gun up the stuffing tube from the strut before pushing the cable through, then slowly rotate the cable in so the grease doesn’t just push out the other end.

That’s what I do and it’s always fully greased. The only difference between before and after the race is the grease is a slightly lighter color.

I’ve been using this stuff for a few years now and never have a problem. Load up the stuffing tube before a race day, pull out the shaft and wipe it clean after the last run. I got it at West Marine.

That motor is a work of art.

I have been greasing and installing my flex shafts the night before a race, and taking them out and cleaning them off after the final run for 6 season on up to 6 boats at a time and never once replaced a shaft due to wear or breakage. [knock on wood]

I don’t think I’d be able to do that, even if I didn’t see any signs of water. 😬 On my nitro boats I pull the motor out after the final heat anyway.

How does this make a difference? You still have a collet that needs to be tightened.

That’s what I do. Got a postage scale and covered the surface with contact paper to protect it from spills and drips.

Does Finish 1 hold up to nitro, or best for gas/electric boats only?

No, sorry. This sold years ago on another site.

Such a bummer to lose them. I’ve only bought from them a couple times now, but it was sure nice having a go to supplier right down the street.
