    Rigger project!

Can you tell us the setup? Motor, ESC, packs? Mine runs mid-70s and 12 second laps. .

    "waterproof" servo's outside the box?

I don’t think the OP was meaning to eliminate the box, just to reduce its contents and eliminate the vulnerable pushrod seals. Too, even with “waterproof” servos, the connector is still vulnerable. Most silicones are acidic which can damage the connectors, packing with grease makes more sense...

    Silent engine

I corresponded with Dick for years and raced with him a couple times, he was a class act. RIP my friend. .

fe motor ,speed control ,and batteries

For your boat, nothing. You don’t need more than the 150 amp Raider ESC recommended to you previously. I have been getting most of my FE stuff from offshoreelectics.com for two decades. Steven has a great selection, good prices on quality stuff and wonderful service.

    Rule question

The "intent" was to have "semi-scale" boats of similar lengths racing each other. Someone thought it would "look better" than boats with significant length differences - a 23" and a 33" sport hydro racing in the same heat for instance. Another example of solving a 'problem' which never occurs. .

    Zipkits JAE 33 FE build

That is plenty of motor for high speeds. My JAE21 uses a Castle 1415/1Y and with a cupped H-7 runs 12-second laps and reaches high-70s at the end of the straights. Looks great! .

    Bad weekend at Legg Lake,CA

This park was well known as a criminal area after dark. Over the past 18 years I visited and raced there I was often warned by locals that the park was considered unsafe after dark. Bodies have even been found in the lake. Vehicles full of boating equipment have been stolen at local hotels in...

What happened to the battery ?

This kind of damage is most often seen when the packs are overheated by over-discharging the packs. A starting temperature of 95*F doesn't help. A cell temperature of almost 180*F is enough to cause damage to lower quality packs, and even high quality packs can succum. Exactly what were the...

    Chine walk

Year-old thread guys. The Seducer does not use trim tabs and a hook is designed into the hull on purpose. They all chine walk to some degree, I watched Jerry run over 90 mph at a SAW competition and it chine walked some doing it. It also dive into the water, burying itself 2' into the bottom...

    ELECTRIC MONO

I too think that a P-Limited setup would work best for the OP. Speeds are good, cost is a bit lower than full P Mono, and there seem to be more racers in this class. However, I would suggest a different motor, either the AQ 1800 or the AQ/ProBoat 1500 motors. These are more forgiving to prop...

New FE Rigger SAW Record Set Today

Brian Buaas just raised the P Hydro (4S = 14.8 volts) to 136 mph, with a fast pass of 141. This is almost as fast as the old T Hydro record of 140 mph. Congratulations to Brian!

Sport Hydro Sponson vs. Strut Weight Distribution?

Kinda looks like the fin is angled up, which can lift the right sponson out of the water. Or it may just be the photo angle. I had to rotate my fin (larger than yours) back a bit to smooth things out. Removing the fin for testing is a great idea! My strut is lower than yours, this reduces...

    Quality ESC

Club members used various Swordfish controllers in the past two years and I believe all failed eventually. The T180 was much more reliable for them. I used MGM controllers a few years ago with decent success AFAIK their support has improved in recent years. Today I use modified Castle...

    FE classic thunderboat setup

Other reasons for flex cables include the ability to easily change the thrust angle and prop depth - this made a huge difference for most boaters. Prior to flex cables we had to use articulated drives with U-joints to get straight back thrust - far more efficient than an angled straight shaft...
