    Wrist Pin Clip Failure

Also, the clip ends/opening should face the top of piston or the skirt, and not to the sides

    Cat c/g percentage

I'm thinking these gas boats being heavy, compared to nitro, need the CG further back. With your 58 ,make the radio box as far back as you can in case you need to go 31-32% as Dave recommends,,happy building lol

    Cat c/g percentage

Nice one Dave,Yeah,I can imagine those gas engines weigh a bit, needing to be placed rearward, and also I notice your boat has long horns and shorter tunnel lenght compared to the old Sprincats, putting the CG further back.I get what your saying about corner bog,,cheers

And no women to distract him from his purpose,,totally focused lol

    Cat c/g percentage

I'm glad you're inspired to get your 2 boats running lol,,After thinking about making 2 engine mount positions,it might be tricky to set up the flex shaft and tube, because of the steep shaft angle and engine height,,I measured the CG on my boat, and its 12.5" from transom, and being a 35"...

    Cat c/g percentage

Here's a vid of the same yellow cat racing in rough windy conditions 30 years ago ,with 1/3 pound of lead in the nose lol

    Cat c/g percentage

Yeah,,That other 42 inch sounds like the old 90 size sprintcat,,if you can fit a gasser in there,,probably work out,,maybe some extra reinforcing braces around the engine mounts,,as long as you can get the engine back far enough for the CG

    Cat c/g percentage

Cheers Michael,,sounds like a plan,,maybe someone here that has the exact hull and engine set up as you, might give a closer CG

    Where it started….

I think he even made a model boat with a Tesla rc system lol

    Cat c/g percentage

My 35" .45 Sprintcat is around 35-40% from transom using a low lift prop and strut angled up slightly to lift bow,Won and finished many races while others blew over in windy/rough water conditions,,Ive even added a 1/2 pound of lead in the nose in bad conditions,They can be tricky to set...

how does a carbon nitro tank hold up ?

Hi Derek,,I've never used JB,,but the best epoxy I've used here in Australia is Selleys Araldite Super Strenght 24hr epoxy,,strong bond ,never gets brittle and is fuel resistant,,I used it for laminating plywood/boatbuilding and also made a ramp for a drum rotor,,no other 30 min type epoxies Ive...

    Direction of wrist pin

I'm happy to help Toru,,The image describes what I thought,,2 boost ports with a bridge in between ,so the teflon pad can't fall out or get caught on an edge. Cheers
  13. R

    Direction of wrist pin

Cheers Toru,,also,if the piston has one side or skirt longer than the other, the longer side goes towards the exhaust side
  14. R

    Direction of wrist pin

The other way around(intake side),,as it would get caught in the exhaust port or fall out and do damage,,I'm assuming it's like a Kand B engine with a free floating wrist pin with teflon pad,,Does the piston only have 1 hole or 1 blind hole or a C-clip on one side ? Maybe post some pictures of...

    Not going to happen again!!!

    I love my .45 boats,,good ol 3/16 flex running in a teflon liner,,glacier/lead teflon bearings,,smear of grease,,go all day :)

    Cmb 21 Beta head clearance

I get close with a vernier caliper, then use the solder trick down the plug hole to recheck,,make sure the solder is touching the cylinder wall,,biggest problem is with the piston pushing the liner up at TDC because of the nip,,Either shim up the liner a 1/4 inch and subtract or with the head on...

    K&B 7.5 mods

Yeah Rod,,if the engine is old,,depends on how much wear it has,, the piston should pinch in the liner at top dead centre with glow plug removed If the bearings are old, you'll need to replace them, might have traces of corrosion, how sloppy is the conrod to crankpin fit ?,,then you have the...

    K&B 7.5 mods

Pretty much what Mark mentioned, looks like the old style engine, hopefully, the piston/liner fit is good, also, you can carefully open up the transfer passages towards the rear boost port dividers with a dremel,,some crankcases I bought later on,came from the factory with the dividers already...

    Flame outs on launching

Cheers Frankor,,sponsons are flat,,I was careful not to add any hook or weight anywhere,,and a Kand B is a lot lighter than a CMB,,strut is sitting on bottom of ski,,pipe is an old rossi 60.ran it for years around 9.5-10" and using an ex throttle,,yes,I thought it should pull that prop based on...

    Flame outs on launching

Yeah Norm,,might be the piston/ liner,,not much pinch left,,piston/liner has 2 boost holes I drilled,,I can hear crankcase compression leaking on the downstroke through the ex port..disc seems ok ,,around .003"/.004" clearance,,I spose I just assumed if it ran ok on low nitro.it would run on...
