    Prop Destruction

The only props I have had trouble with is an H-29. Probably from the Tidewater days, not the current ones. Tore a blade off of 2 of them. I liked them on my X Hydro. Smaller diameter but pitched up so the engine would rev. Just couldn't handle the load.

    Onboard glow igniters

Jim Wilson used a AA Nicd battery i an A Mono. He used to run so much fuel through his motor, the plug needed help staying lit. I tried it on an A Mono and it made a difference, bringing up the revs, at idle when it was connected. Can't prove that it helped me much in a heat. The main...

Question in regards to prop guards.

So, does a flat piece of aluminum placed 6 inches to 1 foot behind the boat constitute a "shrouded" propeller? This seems to be the standard from the NAMBA Nats that I have attended. Would 2 inches be OK without protection from the sides and above? Just looking for what "shrouded" means...

    Look for ABC H2 prop.

I have 2 H-2 props and one that could be an H-2. The latter has a smaller hub and I can't read it directly but the diameter and pitch are close to the 2 others.

Question in regards to prop guards.

At our races (D16), our hot pits and working pits are one and the same. We all have prop guards of some sort. Some more elaborate and some so so. I've seen "cake pans" and other barriers at the NAMBA Nats and they are a joke. Some people put their boat facing away from the "prop guard" and...

    Wire drives

Re; Using in a Catamaran. I have two electrics with .078 wire drive I built myself. P hydro and P mono. I'd say that a wire drive in a big cat would not work well as the ones I've seen have very tight radius for the stuffing tube. The whole trick to a wire drive is keeping the bend as...

    Dsm vs 75

In the mid 90's I tried to run 75mhz on a couple of boats. I went to a Nats where there were a lot of 75 mhz and had no end of problems with interference. My boat ran fine until certain people fired up their radio and the boat went nuts. I took two radios with different channels into a...

6S FE RIGGER WEIGHT QUESTION ?

I built a Q hydro out of an older model Eagle SG 40. With two 4000mah 6s, ESC and SSS motor, it comes in at 10 lb in running weight. Batteries are in the two front compartments and the motor is back where the radio box would normally be. CG is at the back edge of the turn fin. The Eagle...

    Brass or Teflon liner?

Yes. But it's a fine balance. Too little gap and the tension can be too much. Just want it to lightly push on the strut. I can tell how much push I get by how the delrin washer wears. No wear, and I'm pushing all the time on the motor, a little bit of an indent from the strut and that's...

    Brass or Teflon liner?

I am running brazed cables I build myself. For a .21 hydro, I leave about 1/16 gap and on larger boats, about 3/32. Never had a problem with the cable pulling apart. The cable goes into a bit of tension but not much. The rubber mounted engine engine will move a bit if it gets into too...

    Brass or Teflon liner?

I run my flex so that it goes into a bit of tension when running. This keeps the cable from twisting up. The teflon liner definitely helps keep the friction down in this case. Jim Wilson convinced me on the merits of keeping the gap small between the strut and the drive dog thus allowing the...
