Anyone on here into wooden sailing ships?

I have a Sergal Le Soleil Royal 40" kit - I bought close to 20 yrs ago. Evidently, since then, Sergal has merged with Mantua and they still sell the kit for @$1200 US. The kit I have predates this merger and only has Sergal on the box cover. The newer kits come with multilingual instructions...

    A Couple Questions

I'm not satisfied with the antenna tube fastening I've been using, & the on/offswitch. I dont remember the brand name of the antenna tube fastening I've used, but it is is basically a metal nut threaded onto an alumimun fixture the the hollow plastic tube inserts into. The on/off reciever switch...

WTB OLD TIDEWATER/JAGUAR RIGGER RUDDER BLADE

The "head" (block where the water nipple goes) measures 7/8" front to back (that was the key measurement Bob used to identify the blade) and the blade is almost 4" total length Bob said the pin should be about .137. Thanks!

    Dumb question! :0

My lack of terminology is showing. I have my radio's manual and was trying to figure out how to adjust how far it makes a servo move. Bottomline is my carb doesnt quite close fully and I'd like to be able to tell my radio to move it further. What is the terminology for this so I can find it in...

    World's 1st RC Boater

I thought I'd share this for those (like myself) who didnt know this. Watched a show on Nikola Tesla.... I was aware of some of his accomplishments, but I didnt realize that he was the world's 1st RC boater. He built a radio controller boat way that he demonstrated way back in 1893 at New York...

    What to do in Chicago

Looking for "must do when in Chicago" suggestions. Looks like I'll be flying there unexpectedly) so I dont have any ideas of what me and the wife & son (6yr old) should do on our free time (cept Chicago style pizza - Uno's? and Chicago Hotdogs).

Comparison of how shapes affect drag

I thought I'd share this for those who AREN'T scientists or engineers, and basically challenged when it comes to physics (like me!) I found this very insightful, so I thought I'd share it. http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/aerodynamics/q0231.shtml And for those that dont understand the...

    Carb Options for .12 NR

I'm wondering what carb options I may have for my lil .12 JAP NR. Rod G had suggested I bring my .250 stock carb over to him to tweak, and mentioned that something closer to .280 ID bore would be an improvement. Then he had some medical issues to deal with, and I'm not sure how he's feeling at...

    Help identifying a .60-.90 Hydro

I picked up a small misc stuff at the closest RC shop (a small car/crawler shop out in the country) a week ago. The owner had a .60-.90 hydo (not a rigger) for sale - only boat in the shop. Out of curiosity, I asked him to pull it down to see and asked him his price. After I got home, I forgot...

    Speed Calculator for 330' straight

I know IMPBA offers some charts for measuring speed... this should be additionally helpful. Our clubs course is 330ft from bouy 6 to bouy 1, and I made this chart so I/we have something more accurate than the radar gun. All that is needed is a stopwatch and the measured 330 ft straight. 1 foot...

    JAP .12 Video

Our club had a "speed run" today. My engine is still too tight to turn over on a 12v Sullivan HiTork starter unless the plug is loosened - but she ran an honest 42 on radar! :P Last yr 43 was the top speed, but everyone's .12's are running faster this yr..... ;) My fastest run was when it...
