have you ever considered giving this kit (the 1/8th scale specifically) your "extreme" treatment? that would be AWESOME.

    Schumacher U-88/U-37

I found this video and was real excited, I felt like this gave me a really good idea overall of how the boat looks from the rear, mainly the more boxy and sharp edges I spoke about earlier in the thread. I believe ive gotten pretty close overall of achieving this look. I have just a tad bit...

    Schumacher U-88/U-37

Just wanted to post some pics of the hull as she currently stands, im really close to putting on the first coat of primer, but it wont necessarily be in the conventional sense. I have some Klass Kote white primer, and usually when I spray this I go with a 1:1:1 mixture with the reducer, sprays...

    12S1P 1/8th SCALE HYDROPLANE

First, trying to find any hull thats pre-made for you thats capable of accommodating a typical brushless setup that these boats require is already very difficult, unless you have connections and know someone personally (which you clearly do not or else you wouldn't have made this thread) who...

    Schumacher U-88/U-37

Wow, I completely forgot I had made this thread. Its certainly time for an update! Ive done even more modifications to the hull since the last post here, and despite really feeling overwhelmed at one point for getting quite a bit overzealous with my changes to the hull, ive now started sanding...

Madison Bud T4 Build, and mold construction

after way too long a period of time with next to no activity on any forums, and virtually the same as far as progress on my boats, im happy to hop back on the bandwagon and get crankin, and hopefully have at least something decent to show for by the end of summer! Now I may be wrong with this...

Prop lift, blueprinting, and rear shoe depth

well yes, of course all boats are different. However, I was referring to a specific type of boats sharing the same design, so basically 1-2 kinds of boats at most. It seems like it wasnt until the 90s that most boats on the circuit had rear shoes, and then until the 2000s that those rear shoes...

Prop lift, blueprinting, and rear shoe depth

Hello, I had a few questions that I was hoping to have some more experienced racers to hopefully shed some light on, as this topic has been a little bewildering when I attempted to do some research on it. Id like to note that this is more in regards to modern rear winged, turbine hulls...

    Velasco hulls and compatible boats?

dang that is sweet, and in that form, it looks like it could probably make the 1980 Pak, the one that doesnt have any spar/ram bar. Cool, thanks Brian! Could you possibly PM me with price info and such?

    saltwater scoop

well shoot, no point in using something if the REAL BOAT used it!! what a letdown..... ^^^ plan on registering with this photo, after I touch it up a little bit for effect

    saltwater scoop

yes I know, but my cowling and upper half of my cockpit are one piece, and even if they weren't I still wouldn't attach it to the cockpit, unless the entire cockpit was molded into the hull. well only way id paint it before putting it together would be if its detachable just like other parts on...

    saltwater scoop

oh, thats a good idea so im still concerned whether I should epoxy it on permanently as im wondering if this will effect the paintjob, or basically ability to get paint underneath the scoop and on the top of the cockpit?

    RCboatcompany.com /Steve G - 1/8 scale Carbon Rear Wing Set (Bud style for 1990s & up)

Correct me if im wrong, but I thought 1982 was the final year for Atlas Van Lines in H1?? either way, I dont believe these wings would not work with any respective Atlas boats. Those boats I believe had Lucero style wings, in that the half round indentation on the bottom of the uprights in the...

    RCboatcompany.com /Steve G - 1/8 scale Carbon Rear Wing Set (Bud style for 1990s & up)

Steve Gualtieri (rcboatcompany.com scale hydros) manufactured rear wing set, all carbon fiber, made for modern style turbine boats, about 1990 and up (a few older Bud boats may have had this style pre-1990s as well). The uprights have been joined and high density pink foam was epoxied inside...

    saltwater scoop

Was just curious as how most guys approach this aspect, as id like to have one on my current build but im unsure of a couple things First, is it usually permanently attached/epoxied to the cowl, or if you is it ever attached with a "breakaway" setup similar to how a rear wing assembly is...

cowling attachments on phil T5 scale

ya thats actually something I was going to touch on but forgot, I epoxied my cockpit and cowling together to use it as once piece, and this configuration is a little bit better suited toward lipo powered setups. As a matter of fact my entire T5 hull and build was very modified and a little...

cowling attachments on phil T5 scale

Lol well Phil I still have the one you emailed to me before you shipped the hull, although its a tad less thorough than the actual packet you gave me, so Jason if youd like, you could give me your email and I can send it to you. I went with an electric setup and it was still EXTREMELY helpful...

cowling attachments on phil T5 scale

I dont exactly have pictures of him using this method on his T5 hull, but he pretty much uses this technique all the time. These particular pics are from his Lobster hull. Also, for my current build, ill be taking an easier and more convenient route that I havn't really seen done.... Ive...

KlassKote clear over West Systems epoxy?

You say your mainly concerned with achieving a glass smooth finish? Would the final coat or two still require sanding of any kind? Ive been amazed at this pic ever since I saw it: Caption says: "Applied 3 coats of Klass Kote, the last one I reduced 1:1:1. Pretty happy with the overall finish."
