Pre-order Inquiry for 1/16" thick plywood

Glad you are all stocked up. I have plenty of 1/8" and 1/4" thick birch plywood (which is more widely available than the 1/16" thick). I gotta re-up on some 1/16" so I was thinking of passing some savings on to others. Especially if I will be order several sheets or more to have for my builds.

Pre-order Inquiry for 1/16" thick plywood

Hi everyone - I am setting up a pre-order to hold 1/16" birch plywood sheets for you. I will have 12" x 61" (5.08 sq ft) sheets available of the real 1/16" thick birch plywood for $18.00 per sheet plus shipping. I could probably get shipping costs down to $12-15 per sheet. That makes the...

    Boom tube material and fastening

I was thinking of buying the vice attachment in the link below to bend the fin Didn't mean to turn the tube thread into a turn fin thread, but why not Im sure many can benefit http://www.grizzly.com/products/4-Vise-Brake/H3243

    Boom tube material and fastening

Very nice and once again informative, I like the idea of learning how to play with metal since I mostly cut wood. I have a solid vice at home and would like to attempt to bend the 7075 aluminum myself. I guess I would have to heat it up first? And I assume i'd hold the fin in a vice while filing

    Boom tube material and fastening

Thanks for the info- I am pretty sure I can cut 7075 aluminum to the overall shape I need with my table saw and band saw (done it safely before), but will probably need someone to roll it for me until I buy a table top roller. I feel filing a knife edge on the turn fin would be a lot of work to...

    Boom tube material and fastening

Thanks for sharing, do you mean "FILED" rather than "filled" I am not sure what you mean by that. Seems like I will need to find a shop who can do the proper bending

    Boom tube material and fastening

Jim- Can you explain how a turn fin is made? Can you wire edm the overall shape, including the "knife" edge and then bend on a certain press? Is the 7075 aluminum strong enough? I need to have a turn fin made and been talking to a few shops and they don't want to do it. I don't have the tools...

Are you taking you make the wedges to put on the bottom of the sponsons? Most riggers usually adjust at the tubes

    Boom tube material and fastening

I did it similarly on my first rigger I built after speaking with you Jim, but it is difficult to adjust the angles unlike other setups that use shims. Do you or anyone have any ideas on how to be able to adjust the angles slightly with this setup?

Cool going to mess around with my rigger design

Hydroplane or Rigger Center of Gravity, Center of Balance?

Good information Is it a gas rigger and how long is the tub and front sponsons? Or if not, what are the lengths anyways because I want to see how long the sponsons are compared to the tub. On my rigger the tub is 41" long, the sponsons are 20-1/2" but if you only include the planing surface...

Hydroplane or Rigger Center of Gravity, Center of Balance?

OK so I know how the CG is calculated on a hydroplane/rigger. What I am interested in learning is what affects does changing the CG have on the hull? Rule of thumb is 15-20% of the after plane from the back of the sponsons, so what exactly changes when you have a rigger with 15% and a rigger...
