    JD with a True Mono

I still have a SkDaddle Too that I started building sometime around 1978. Might put it back together and convert to electric for the grandkids to play with. Should be slow enough for them. lol

Converting a Northwind 40 to FE

Opened up the Castle esc and sealed it with epoxy. Hopefuly that will add a little extra insurance in case it gets a little damp inside the compartment.

Converting a Northwind 40 to FE

Ok, Finally got a motor (4074 2000kv), built a cooling coil for it, and ordered a 4000mah 4s-70c battery. Will order more batteries as finances allow. I was going to buy a Leopard 8082 but the TomcCat 4074 was a bit easier on the budget (gotta keep the wife happy). Here's the motor, and battery...

    Charlotte, NC area?

Yeah, I could only imagine how difficult it would be to try hosting a hundred or more people for a Regional event, with only a handful of club members to handle it. I found a great pond at a small local park here in Clover, SC. Car access is the only thing I still have to check on. There's a...

Converting a Northwind 40 to FE

Thank you for that explanation. With the short hydro strut on this hull, the prop centerline is only about 1/2" below the keel, so the prop blades run higher than the keel (above the surface of the water once on a plane). Would this be considered a surface drive or subsurface drive? Only asking...

Converting a Northwind 40 to FE

Ok will leave the fan on then. That never even turned on supriningly. I know it has turned on while in my car a few times, just never got hot enough in the boat. Part of the motor heat and melting solder may have been due to not enough power available from the battery I think. Battery was a 2S...

Converting a Northwind 40 to FE

Tyler, Offshore Electric sells a watercooling plate that I was thinking about trying on the Castle esc, just pop off the cooling fan and mount the plate over the heat sinks. I tested the boat wirth an old 3650 motor last week, (5700kv on 2S), and quickly found out about the higher amp draws...

Converting a Northwind 40 to FE

Converting a Northwind 40 to FE. Planning to use either a 4074 or 4082 2200kv Leopard, Seaaking 180amp esc, and 5000mah 50C (minimum) 4S batteries for fun running, with 6S for shorter duration max speed runs. Currently have a Castle Mamba Max esc rated to run their 4042 2350kv motor at 4S in...

    Endurance Racing

Unfortunately I live in south eastern Oregon, so a trip to Batavia would be hard to justify to my non r/c wife lol. I know what you mean about the costs that could be involved with building a competitive boat for this type of racing, while I'm new to boats, I have raced r/c trucks(both electric...

    Endurance Racing

I love the "run what ya brung" anything goes concept, I think it will draw a lot of attention, especially with people that are either new to the sport (people like me), or just investigating. With all the confusing rules and specs for the organized racing classes, this could be the perfect...

I screwed up! How Do I Fix It?

if you can't get anything to grab it, you'll most liekly have to file it flat enough to get a good start with the drill bit. I would try using the smallest bit you could find,at least to get a small hole for the final drill to center on.

I screwed up! How Do I Fix It?

definetly penetrating oil to start with, is there enough sticking out to grab with a good pair of vice grips? if not maybe you can find a small reverse rotation drill bit chances are a reverse rotation bit might grab it and twist it out once the oil does it's job with less chance of buggerin up...

I love the way this thing looks, I wonder how it would run with a good .12 or .15 engine in it?

    Xtreme .12 Hydro

I have the CVR.15 with the 10ER rotary carb, and so far it's been really easy to tune even for a nitro newbie like me.
