I am working on some NPRC drag cars and wondering if any Futaba radios have a throttle delay function. The Sanwa M17 has a function that when you pull the trigger you start at a small throttle percentage that ramps up over time (1.5 ro 3 seconds needed for drag cars). Hate to switch to Sanwa when I have a bunch of Futaba receivers.

Sure. Most of the high end Futaba's have throttle speed.

There are several ways actually on some models to manipulate the throttles speed and response.

You can change the throttle speed in quadrants.

Acceleration page 60

Throttle speed Page 86 This will give you slow start. Set it for 1, 2 or 3 segments. Set speeds in each quadrant accordingly.

Traction control page 95

Which Futaba receivers do you have ? Many new radios will not work with the most popular 3 channel receivers Futaba made. The R603FF or FS will not work with 4PM, 4PX or 7PX radios.

I have a 3PV and a basic 4PM with R203GF and R304SB receivers.
Thanks Daniel and James for the responses.
Exponential and servo speed alone would work somewhat but very tricky. The M17 has mixing that brings in what car racers cal turbo/ boost which is timing in my mind. 30 to 60 degrees in sensored motors 50K to 70k rpm. Learning alot as I go here

Mic, have you checked some of the Facebook pages for Futaba and rc drag racing? It’s been awhile since I checked but there was a good knowledge base there that was very helpful. Another was a website called RCTech forums.

Hey John, Yes I have but not many car guys use Futaba. On a side bar any chance you'll be around for the Sarasota FE race next weekend?

I’d be glad to come and help but we have family coming and bugging out for Key West.

How much Expo have you tried? You remember that with Futaba Expo you use negative numbers to increase the expo?

The problem with EXPO is you have to pull the trigger slowly in a 2-3 second range which is very inconsistent. It is also really slow at first then ramps up on the big end. Put against a fully programable TX throttle delay in time increments you would need to be a slot car champion to compete.
Have fun in the Keys

Throttle speed you can adjust 1% at a time and make it advance at whatever rate you want over the entire range so you can pin it with the trigger and the throttle will open at controlled rate that is digitally adjustable.

They are full computer radios so you can set a dial up to make it easy to adjust.

Thanks Mike and Daniel.
I did see the traction control section and it will take a bit more reading to digest it all. I have a $250 RX that may work and trying to decide if the $700 7PXR or the $600 Sanwa M17 are worth the extra. The other factor is there are several ESC's with delay programs. I have Castles that work well and have known reliability but need the radio to do the delays. I hesitate to do R&D at my expense as I have with boat ESC's like the MGM's in my burnt pile. Oh well fun trying a new aspect of RC that I can test on the street in front of my house.

I use my 7PX for drag racing and I use the throttle control under, User Menu, Speed, Throttle Speed.
I set the mode to 3, which divides your trigger pull into 3 pieces which can be slowed.
I mess the trigger and the radio controls the launch, all the way to full throttle.
There are videos on YouTube the explain it.
