After making some 3D printed 1/8 and 1/6 Scale Merlin exhaust stacks and intakes for ourselves and a few other local club members, I thought I would offer them to others who may want to try them. The parts are printed using PLA with the exhaust stacks being black and the intakes in silver. The black PLA doesn't show up well in the pictures so a set of exhaust stacks was printed in silver so you could better see the part detail.

Some of the features for the exhaust stacks include a rib along the back of the part for strength, rivets for each exhaust tube, and blocks off the main rail so the parts can easily be set back in the cowl to give a more scale look. The intakes are printed with a mounting rail and are open to allow air to the engine.

I have 1 set of 1/6 Scale Allison turbo exhaust setup but more can be made in either side if requested.. Sizing of the parts can be seen in the pictures.

Merlin exhaust stacks: $20 a set
Merlin intakes: $12.50 each
Allison turbo stacks: $20 a set
Allison intakes: $12.50 each
Shipping: Flat rate USPS small box $10.50

If you have any questions just let me know.
Thanks,
Chris

I need a set of Exhaust tubes and intake scoop for a 1/6 scale unlimited 1978 U-31 Miss Circus Circus, whick tubes would you recommend. and how do I order and pay you, thanks, Mike

Two questions for you:
  1. Do you have plans to make the turbo-Allison exhausts with the outlet pointed in any other direction? I know some boats had the outlet that came straight out and curled upwards while others were pointed back, along the side of the pipes
  2. Do you have plans to make the intake without the mounting rail? Many engines were exposed so the rail would need to be removed

Hi Mark, Right now my son has printed turbo Allison exhausts without the outlet, with a short outlet, and with a longer outlet as requested. All pointing in the same direction as the picture above. If there is a setup that you are looking for other than these just send me a picture and I'm sure they can be made for you.

The rail around the bottom of the intakes can be removed if you are using the part on an exposed engine. They were added as I usually ended up adding wood pieces to the parts to get them to mount. The rails were added to the parts to try and eliminate this work. We have made a few different heights available as the intakes sit higher outside on some boats. If your boat requires a specific size / height just let me know.

Here are a couple of boats that have been recently completed using the parts. The 1st one is an 1/8 scale and the 2nd one a 1/6 scale.

If anyone has questions or is looking for specific sizing / printouts of the parts please contact me and we'll see what we can do for you.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Mark,

1. When redesigning my Allison pipes I modeled the stack separate. I can turn it to whatever angle, or swap it for a different stack design as needed. My original plan was to just have different exhaust "plugs" that can fit in the hole of the turbo, and people can pick/pose whichever stacks they'd like. Still could do that, but I was worried about not having enough glue surface inside the turbo to hold the stacks on if they're separate.

2. Not a problem, I now have versions of the different intakes without the rail. The intakes are easy to tweak and quick to print. We went through a few iterations playing with different heights, I've included a picture of the current spread.

Just to add to Dad's comment, there's no hard/fast rules to any of this, we've already done some customization for a few people. Dad has most of the pre-made parts on hand, obviously those will have a quicker turnaround than something custom, but I pride myself in quick and hacky edits.
