So i recently aquired what i believe is a Road Runnner Extreme Hydro that is in very nice shape but ive never rigged or ran a twin in my life, so here comes the questions......!
1- It looks like the boat used a very large servo for the rudder, so what model number Futaba servo would i possibly use?
2-It looks like the boat was set up for one servo per carb, so can i use a Y harness to the receiver to tie the throttle servos together? It doesnt look like the boat had 3rd channel remote needle valves which is fine by me!
3- Im going to make new motor mounts and i dont know where to get the Lord rubber mounts!
Im sure that i will have a lot more questions as id really like to put this rocket together right the first time if possible, but i do claim total ignorance when putting together and setting up one of these boats!! Many Thanks!

1 - S3306 (Giant Scale) - FutabaUSA Here is a link to a quick search for large scale futaba servo. I run 705 or 805 hitecs in mine FYI
2 - Yes you can. Some say there can be a transition difference in the servos so this is not ideal. Most run a single with 2 combined linkages to both carbs.

Thank you very much Mike! Do you run 3rd channel needles in your twin?

Hitec D845WP servo with 1/8 stainless rod.

Single servo , very simple to setup and bullet proof.

Run quality O.S. needles in Don's bases again bullet proof, haven't bothered with remote needles in my last couple of twins and don't miss them at all. I think this setup is far more reliable!

And please don't mind the mess , just putting the finishing touches in the radio box.

I have. I also ran a 4 ch setup. I could adjust a specific one or both. I usually hade issue with the right motor. So that one got the individual control. Then 4th channel ran a program for both needles. It is a lot to adjust on the fly so it aint for everyone. The simple set up is to get with a single servo to control both 3rd needles. Once you have a good setup, you are rarely changing much at the races. So most just run regular needles. Then tune them with flow meter. I have not run my nitro twin in last 3 years or so. It pissed me off one day while out testing. Could not get it tune up nicely. Keep creeping up on the needles and tossing it out. It was getting better as we went. Then all of a sudden it went sideways and we were way off. It was a couple of weeks before nats and I said screw it. It has not come off the shelf since. Then can be fun at the good times but can be very frustrating as well.

Looks great Tim! I believe in the KISS method in most things so i will do without the remote needles! Thank you for the help!

Being that i cant walk and chew gum at the same time, and reading your post as well as Tims. i will stay away from remote needles. These boats cover so much distance so fast that for my skills, its a disaster just waiting to happen. I appreciate your replies very much!

I don't own a twin. STEP 1 don't cheap out on the rudder. My 90 is using a futaba s9156 my other choice is the hitec D954SW (impressive servo!) Y harness yes. But you could get individual servo trims and end points, if you mixed two channels. Your isolators. I got mine from Mc master. I forget but there not listed as lord mounts
