That is going to depend on the starter and what you want to start with it.

As mentioned this exact topic was just hashed over pretty good.

My starters are 12 volt based so 11.1 volt 3S LiPo is the max they are designed too use. The good thing is thy will start ANYTHING we run on only 12 volt.

Only needing 12 volt instead of 24 cuts battery cost in half.

These starters start everything with ease and last forever. They starters use a proper means of switching through a solenoid so pushbutton switch last a long time with no load on it.

That is ATV geared drive starter motor. Best you limit it to 3S LiPo. Use a high rating pack. A 50C or better pack with at least 5000 mah will drive it nicely. With LiPo power it does not need anywhere near 9AH for sure. They were referring to 12 volt gel cell/lead acid/amg is my guess but not relevent here.

Amp hour ratings are not the same across different composition types. A 9000 mah PB/LA/AGM/Gel battery is approx the same as 5000 mah LiPo in power it can deliver.

I know that seems weird as you want to think mah is mah or a specific load over a specific time rating so it doesn't matter what type the battery is but manufacturers ratings or testing for different types are not the same and you can't compare the ratings apples to apples.

If you took the same mah of each and put a load on them the Lipo would go almost twice as long. In real life it can actually be many times as long depending on the load.
