I have an unbuilt crapshooter 45 kit, it is complete. I have seen some pretty wild prices from previous threads of complete boats. Would this thing be worth more unbuilt or done up? It is a gen 6, so the boat prior to Stu’s latest batch.

Thanks,
Frankor.

Frankor,

It will be worth more built correctly. Some people don’t really want to build boats anymore, so I think it would be to your advantage if you build it for them. Just My Opinion!!!

A good place to start would be a picture of the kit. Is the tub or sponsons pre assembled? Is there any portion of the hardware? As soon as people see what you have you will get responses. You may want to move your post to the for sale forum.

I don't have a great way to post pictures at this time, I may have to ask my brother to help me. It's a full kit that's been on my shelf for the last 7 years. Previous owner had it for a few years and didn't mess with it much from what I can tell. The wood looks great and doesn't have any oil/finger stains. The kit is unmolested. Nothing has been done to it.

It has full hardware, servo mounts, motor mounts, boom tube mounts, strut, rudder, shaft w/bushing, cowl, has sponson retainers, pipe mount assembly, ect ect. The only thing the buyer would need is a tank, which I don't believe ever came with the kits.

I'm really just curious as to what I could get for it. Hard to believe a kit I paid $900 for all those years ago is worth $2k plus...but you never know..

In my opinion its worth more unbuilt, unless its in the hands of a pro builder its easy to muff it up. Too much epoxy or a botched stuffing tube could really hurt the value
if you decide to build this boat I have the pattern for a Stainless Steel Fuel tank. This is one boat that I have built many fuel tanks for.
