Who will be the Next president of the IMPBA now our Current president has resigned? No Flaming please. What is the Structure? Surprised our BOD have not posted a topic on this Since this happened several days ago. WE discuss everying from GM lifters collapsing on a 15 year old trk to Politics. So it hard to say this is Not a Important topic......... Maybe its just Politics?

Too bad, I don't know what happened but I know Fred's a good man.

I see his term was until the end of 2024, does VP Matt Schofield want the position? I thought he needed time with his young family?

I am curious to know why too.. if its "our fault" we can not make it better without knowing. If its just a personal issue that's fine.. we just need to know that.

It's not an issue with any IMPBA members. I have written a resignation letter for the December Roostertail. It explains my reasons. The last I heard from the "board" was they are not going to print it. They'll have to print something. It's been a week with no word from them. No matter what gets printed, just remember there are 2 sides to every story.

My personal experience at races with Fred Lumb Jr. is that his interest is what is best for model boating and model boaters. Fred and I are friends and I certainly respect his dedication to IMPBA and its members.

The IMPBA board is following the procedures in the rule book and a meeting is called for this Wednesday to address the situation. It was the soonest we could get everyone's schedules to accommodate as we are all volunteers and have other life activities. Results of that meeting will be in the Roostertail which will be published shortly afterwards.

"SECTION 9 - VACANCY In the event that the office of President, District Director or National Safety Director becomes vacant through resignation or other reasons, the remaining portion of the term shall be filled by appointment by the Executive Board. A Presidential vacancy must be filled by one of the previously elected District Directors."

When it states " previously elected District Directors" does that mean past or present?

This is unfortunate. I do not know what Fred's reasons for resigning are but he is a pragmatic, considerate and mature leader. Unfortunately I have found that in small groups like this it's sometimes hard to see the forest for the trees. IMPBA and model boating lost in this deal.

If you compare the threads on the Texas shootout here and on JRCBD you can get a clue about what's going on. The thread titles alone are a hint. A tiny number of a**holes can make these unpaid, volunteer jobs not worth it.

I agree that Fred is a great boater, leader and IMPBA has lost a committed leader. It would be good to look and find out what his reasoning was to step down and the board to learn from what he stepped down. All of the positions are non paid positions and everyone has a breaking point in their volunteer positions they hold. Learn, Address and Correct so this great model boating organization doesn't have to go through this again.
