Not going to mention my source.. but.. from a person I know, in the know.

"Drones aren’t a focus at this time. People want dji or above level or cheap toys like you find in the circle K and we’re not really in either market segment"

So they basically turned thier back on the entire market because it was all or nothing ? I would love to own a Top End DJI but darn it man, they are big bucks. I currently fly a Parrott Bebop 2 and it wasnt cheap. But for what I play around with its plenty for me. The other side was I lost a rocket and justified the cost to the wife by using the quad to find the rocket- Still looking for that darn rocket- lmao.
Parrot promo - that made me but it .

So for the uninitiated,,, does something like the parrot bebop 2 fly itself ?
Or do you have to have some RC plane type experience?

I consider myself a decent pilot, I have been flying for several years, but the thought of flying a drone from a cellphone just seems strange... do you actually have to fly it or just program a flight path by GPS coordinates and it does its thing ?

Tell us a little bit more about how the whole package works from takeoff to touchdown please...

There are drones you fly with manual control. Most like the DJI you set an altitude just above the trees and push it left right forward back with the sticks. You can fly higher or lower at any time. You can rotate the drone as the camera's generally are locked forward and just angle straight or 90 degrees down for overhead shots. Let go of the sticks and they hover in place adjusting for wind speed and will stay there till the batteries go down or you make changes. Flying kind of a misnomer as you kind of push it around most of the time. Good ones have return to home button and it will go straight up to a preprogramed altitude and retunn to launch point and land itself.
FPV drones you fly with goggles and get real time forward view. You can stop and hover at any time.

Its super simple- If you have flown RC at all- this is easy. It will hover on its own once flying and will only responf to given inputs. The stick controls are super easy- and it has a bunch of advanced functions I have not even played with yet- loops, ect. As far as flying with the cell for 'watching what your doing ' for lack of a better term. It takes a little getting used too, glare on the screen is a PITA - but easily overcomable . It can film video or take still shots and in the performance mode , its pretty sporty as far as flight performance. I wouldnt hesitate to make the same purchase if DJI $$$ is out of the question. IF you can afford it - buy they DJI , you cant go wrong.

You guys are aware, I hope, that there are restrictions on when and where you can fly drones. There's actually a serious debate on this subject between a couple of organizations and the FAA. The FAA has actually set a requirement that you have to have a Part 107 license to fly a drone in many circumstances.
