Anyone out there selling 1/16" or 2mm thick ply longer than 48"?? Need 60" length in both 6" width and 24" width if at all possible.

Shipping is insane on everything,
I tried to buy a 5 gallon can of 50/50 nitro from VP fuel the other day.... the shipping was more than the nitro... 245.00 to have it shipped from San Antonio to Dallas.
That's just crazy....
1- 5 gallon can.... 245.00

And their local dealers don't carry it in stock.

That's like what about 250 miles each way? You could drive there and back for less than 1/2 that fuel wise.
 
IF they will ship, B&D International sells pretty much any thickness of aircraft ply is 61" square sheets. They will cut and sell half sheets as well, just don't know about shipping. When I need ply of 1/8" or thinner, they are my go to. Their web site address is

Pricing is not too bad on the 2.0mm birch ply and they can cut down so that might help shipping costs. I'll give them a ring tomorrow, thanks Mark.

Don, I’ll point out if the wood grain is opposite of what your use to getting in 12”x 48” to get the extra length then the grain will be side to side instead of front to back and will move much easier on the hull bottom. It makes undesirable ‘waves’ on a hull bottom. You may would want to get 1/32“ and laminate another 1/32“ in between bays to get the strength back. Some people note it as vertical and non vertical grain for this reason. Hope you find a good source, Jeff

That brings back a memory from the early 70’s, I could buy direct from US Plywood, so Jerry Betke and I split a 4’x8’x1/16” sheet of aircraft birch ply. I didn’t specify which way I wanted the grain and it came in as bias ply. This was when we were still building full body hydros so you learned real quick to plan ahead for curved surfaces because that stuff would only bend one way.
 
Isn't that the truth, John. Then again, that's what makes building sport and scale boats so much fun, grain orientation and material selection.
My first plans built boat, I tried to use mahogany doorskin for the basic framing, balsa for the stringers and glue blocks and 1/16" birch for the skins. Needless to say, the doorskin was useless as it had no strength, the balsa sticks literally fell apart under the stress and the hobby shop ply only wanted to bend one way, that being 90* off the direction I cut the parts. Live and learn became the watchword since, after fighting with the materials for several weeks, the wife got mad and ran over the boats with her car. Needless to say, the boats were destroyed and the wife is now(as far as I know anyway) living with her latest husband in Reno. As I said, live and learn ;)
 
Hi Don, I ordered three sheets of 1/16" Okoume plywood from Boulter Plywood about two years ago, talk to Chris. I had 4x8 sheets cut in halves up the grain, then across 60" long, that's 24"x60" with left over plywood. I'm sure they have plywood you need, search and read carefully to make sure you get the right plywood. They are in Medford, MA.
