Got this hot shot to fly literally. Have a ton of weight in the front to keep nose down has anyone updated the bottom to make it turn better? No turn fin and the boat will just go straight when trying to turn. Put the stock turn fin on but it’s almost to much fin the boat kind of hops and leans over in the turns. Maybe try a different design fin?

years ago i had a prather lap cat with too much motor, a kb red head 7.5. tried a lot of different turn fins on it and had marginal results, the bottom line, its a 35~40 mph boat. go any faster than that and you never know whats going to happen. its a old design bottom so you can experiment with ride pads and sponson angles or just run the boat in its speed range. i got rid of my lap cat and bought a leecraft xt460, put the redhead on that and wow

Yup these are wide and narrow they don’t like speed. My hot shot sprint is a animal can be wide open and go full rudder and it turns like it’s on rails

The best style turn fin on that boat would be mounted to the outside of the sponson on standoffs. They however do not turn left at all. The fin under the boat puts all of the water coming off it on the tunnel floor. Everything is fighting. The bottom could be reworked to eliminate the fin.

You could try adding stumble blocks. Not sure how effective they would be on the older design but they can be double sided taped on. If it doesn't help, then just pull them off. Majority of the newer hulls all utilize them.

I was thinking about that I might give it a shot

Put a fin in the original position.. might surprise ya! I have seen them run very well like that!

Thats what’s on there now. What do you think about cutting it down and make it shorter? It’s almost like the rudder and fin fight each other

I’ll send ya one. I know it’s 8 inch from the rear of the sponson which is just about where the balance point of the boat is

I built one 35years ago and I still have it and ran it with a mod K&B with pipe it runs and turns great.
