I am hoping there are some forum members out there who have used the ZTW 200 amp ESC. I am new to fast electric boats so please forgive how ignorant my questions may sound. I find the ZTW confusing as the instructions are very, very minimal. It suggests that you calibrate the throttle by holding the throttle lever to full position and then turn on the rx. After the appropriate beep you bring the throttle to the reverse position and to the neutral position etc. My question is this: if I set the throttle to full and plug in my battery to turn on the receiver, doesn't this cause the engine to suddenly rev up to full speed? That would seem unsafe and very hard on the engine - and a little awkward to hold the throttle forward while trying to plug in the battery. If someone might be able to clarify things for me, I would be most appreciative. Thank you.

Mike, thank you very much. Would you mind explaining that to me a little bit further please? After it's calibrated, if you plug the batteries in with it in full throttle the engine would takeoff, right? Is it designed so that until it knows that it's calibrated to your transmitter it just plain won't start the engine? Is that the idea here? I'm sorry to sound so obtuse but it does confuse me a little bit. Thanks again.

The throttle calibration is the first step. After you've accomplished the throttle calibration unplug the batteries. Once it sees and holds the throttle calibration thats done. From here on you just turn on the transmitter and plug in the batteries. Don't hold the throttle open while you do this. You should hear a series of beeps corresponding to the number of cells (6s=6 beeps) followed by a short musical tune. Now it's armed and pulling the trigger will start the motor. The esc has a built in delayed start. You can program it from 10-50% but you can't get rid of it. I know the instructions are in Chinglish but i figured it out from them. Just read and reread them a few times and you'll get it.

this video is perfect you may have to adjust the throttle trim if it doesnt set! either to neutral or full on is what I found

Thanks to whoever moved this to the FE forum - I'll use that in the future. Derek, the video is absolutely perfect and explains all. I had searched videos and missed this one. Thanks again!
