Shop reopening delayed.........

Figured it was easier to just post one message here. I had let it slip out thru the r/c grapevine that when my shop re-do was completed I would take on limited outside work to which some on here reached out to me. I had originally planned on June 1st for opening up for this but due to the absolute insane costs of construction materials (like lumber), a loss of some revenue that was going to be put towards the shop and now last night getting hit with a significant cost increase in legal fees (suing now former business partner) it will most likely be the fall at the earliest before I can get the shop completed to be able to do projects for others. This will not impact the scale rudder brackets already in process so those will still go out hopefully in a few more weeks. As of right now the paint/epoxy booth is unfinished, I am lacking build/set up stations and low or out of hardware and wood. This whole process has been brutal and I question my sanity often lately but it still needs to be done as it serves no purpose unfinished...........

I know I am just a newbi here but I do Appreciate everything you do to keep it going.

So I put a 7 x 7 paint booth in one corner, in all the years of doing this never had a paint booth. Needed 30 2x4s to frame it out. Less than 2 years ago I paid $2.10 for a couple for a project, these were $191.70!! That's frickin' $6.39 a board and I had to go thru 1/2 a pallet to get straight ones.

Not quite up to the task when you're hangin' 5/8" T1-11 for wall board. And don't even get me started on what that schitt cost me per sheet. This project went about 35% over an already generous budget. Prices were going up daily..............

Metal studs come multiple different gauges.
And lengths. Wood studs near me were over 8$
The other day at box store and their stud material is not user friendly.

I understand completely. I moved into a shop in July of 2019 and before I could get everything up and running, COVID hit.

In July 2021, I moved out f the shop and into my garage, then in October 2021 my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Since October 2021 I’ve been hauling my wife around and attending to her needs.

I can make parts later but my wife is irreplaceable.

Even as the newb here It is easy to tell that Family as well as Friends will ALWAYS come 1st in the forums.,
It is also nice to see others come to help when and were they can.
I believe I can always repair or replace my Boats, but I could never replace my Family or friends.

I make rudders out of 7075 aluminum. Before I moved to Washington I would buy that material from Fry Steel for about $6.00 per pound. I found a local supplier up here and they must think they’re selling GOLD. their price for a piece 1/4X1.5X72 is about. $165.00. That makes $11.00 just for the material.

With material prices like that I’d have to charge $50 to $60 for a rudder. I just can’t justify doing that. I thought $30.00 was high enough.
