One of my riggers being run in promod is fitting a 2000hp electric . Should run the same as the hemi and with the battery packs will weight about the same I am told. Waiting for an update from the team.

Have them bring it up to Oregon to set a new electric kilo record on Devils Lake. They can stay at my house. Our old electric record of 98+ mph set in 2008 still stands.

Wont be a kilo, will be run on the 1000' drag course as a regular pro mod, 5.60 index at 165 to 170mph.
 
That could easily set a kilo record. The Devils Lake course gets short for IC boats that can't stop to turn around. If you look at Mike's video you can see that the boat needed to run up in a dog leg before the course. Acceleration is good.

If battery life is an issue you just need to back off a little. Each run will only be 20 seconds or so not counting the run up.

Lohring and Mike were using standard RC batteries to power their boat. Not the price you see there. Plus they were using hyperion duo chargers. I remember when they went for the run they had several generators to charge all them packs. I think the motor ran at 144Vs. I remember seeing pics of 2 large folding tables full of charger/batteries. I think they were 4s. I dont know how many in parallel they were running. Lohring can speak to that.

I am skeptical, but always love a "hold my beer" guy who is willing to strap a 800V battery into a boat and go for it. Found the specs on the system here.
Tyler Lone Star is John Metric who I had been getting my batteries from he has also worked with Don Garlitis on full size electric drag car records.

These days our 2008 setup looks like a condensed version of a lot of model boats charging at a race. Today I would buy a wrecked Tesla for a motor(s) and battery pack. Maybe we could use the Tesla charger a short distance from Devils Lake. Charging would then take around 1/2 hour rather than 2 hours. We were limited to 1C charging of 1/2 the batteries at a time due to generator capacity.

We ran 6 sets of 6 cell 4500 mah packs in series giving around 133 volts nominal or 150 volts fully charged. Each set had 7 - 6S packs in series so we could theoretically pull 945 amps at 30C. We had an emergency safety contactor that when pulled by a rescuer would break the circuit and divide the battery in half. Below are some pictures and graphs from our actual runs. The volts and amps are from a single battery. The rpm is propeller rpm. The brushed motor required by the rules at the time was limited to less than 5000 rpm.

Thanks for actually looking it up, To make the HP rating there shooting for its 2200 battery pack that weights close to 400 lbs Plus the motor pack at roughly 300lbs so comparable to the 500ci hemi with the blower and parts. Its a 5.60 index 1000ft course. Lone star is a drag racing company so run time is not their concern. They make a package with 4000 rated Hp if you want to spend a few hundred thousand $$. this is experimental and not trying to break any "kilo" record but I am sure a package for outright speed could be put together.
 
Motors like engines can be pushed very hard for short bursts, but the longevity is not going to be there. I guess ProMod engines are much more durable than Topfuel engines making double the power, but looking at the size of this motor if you over prop or run it just a fraction too long the magic smoke is going be like rolling coal in a Diesel.
 
Interesting project Dan. I'm sure the guys building are well up on this but just in case don't forget to bring up battery temperature and its effect on getting the best performance out of these batteries.
It was somewhat of a pain having so many separate batteries in our boat but it was good to be able to easily change out a pack if it developed a problem.
I built this back in 2008 and just dragged it out to test some used 6s packs I've purchased. The load is from 24v projector bulbs, 10Amps each. Cheap to make! Flattened copper tube, Bulbs, shunt and battery switch.
Not trusting our battery specs at the time it was used for a 3 minute test logging total amps and voltage of each pack. Tested all 42 batteries for comparison. You can work out internal resistance from the numbers but for a quick check just looking at the voltage drop under load usually tells a story. Testing with this setup really showed how important battery temperature is.
