Well once I got the kit open I started right into it. I got both of the sponson's cut out. The foam cutter is really nice. It cuts like a hot knife through butter. My advice for cutting the foam with the cutter would be to use it outside. It has a little bit of fumes but not much. They tend to linger around. Here are some pictures to help everybody understand how they are cut.DEcBjgCFT1yOy3u+qjCw3A.jpgfullsizeoutput_29aa.jpegfullsizeoutput_29ac.jpegfullsizeoutput_29ae.jpegfullsizeoutput_29b0.jpegfullsizeoutput_29b2.jpegfullsizeoutput_29b4.jpeg

After 3 days, I've managed to get the sponsons sheeted and the the center section ready for sheeting. I need to seal the wood with West Marine Epoxy before joining the sponsons to the center section. I plan to make my own "unfugly" cowling from plywood and blue insulation foam.

oooooo I'd love to get an xt-120 cowling my dad Dave Solway needs one for his old grave digger boat. I'd love to get him one!
John Solway
He's the guy that started all this. I am in the process of coating the mold to smooth it for the layup. I'll send him one as soon as I can.

Lohring Miller

PS If I can get some dimensions, I may need to design a mold for some cowls for the Zip tunnel. The pictures of Jay Selby's cowls could be an inspiration as well as Jerry's "fugly" version.

Yesterday at the Cincy club meeting, some news came my way as to people thinking how this boat was designed and possible clone of a certain boat. I can state from first hand knowledge, that thinking is way off base. Few years back, JD hit me up and asked if I wanted all his boat plans. I believe he did this since at the time I love to build his WOF boats. Also, I supplied all the plans/instructions that I had at that time on IW and to anyone that wanted a set. JD would always direct them my way and the plans were sent free of charge. Now, onto what/how/why. While these plans were on their way to me, JD hit me up stating that Joe Petro was looking for his plans. Few email exchanges, all the paper plans I received from JD were sent to Joe. So, the bottom line is this. The ZippKits G30 is designed from JD's WOF plans. No one else that I'm aware of should think that this is a clone / ripoff of their design.

Happy boating my friends.....
