If you are going to heat race the motor you will need a water cooled head.
I would change the carb from the stock slide carb to a rotary one.
If you cut off the SG crank end right up to where the threads start you will
be able to screw on a collet. Novarossi USA has the flywheel and collet system
if you want to go that way as well.(It is a nice set up). I think the sleeve would
benefit from a little bit of port work. I would suggest raising up the exhaust timing
to 180* - 185*, and it would help to open up the intake timing approximately 10% for more
fuel flow. I would not touch the closing timing at all on the intake side though. Check
the head clearance and set it to .010” to start with. These are just some changes that
should help the performance of the motor and boat.

I run a JAE GT with a JP car motor. Nova Rossi US has a 3.5 marine adapter kit which include a double sided (male) shoulder fastener and flywheel. Apply that. Changed the the carburetor from the original slide unit to a red K&B barrel one. Purchased a marine exhaust system. (header/pipe). Finally, while tuning your power system cut the heat sink down to accommodate proper cylinder head temperature. Once tuned they are so much fun! Primary goal beside having fun running it...Keep the rigger light weight! This one was set up with NO water cooling plumbing and no remote 3rd channel needle hardware. A 700mAh rx battery is sufficient. Have fun!20191005_140610[1].jpg

Are you running a JAE-21 Hydro with the Nova-21 from Josh?
What pipe? OPS-3280 @ 8” to start? Is the motor fresh or broken-in
already? 1715, 1717, 1815, 1817. These will all work well on your current set up.

Additional question, I just set up an older sport .21 since we have a lot of boat time currently, Novarossi .21 race motor, will a Novarossi car pipe perform or do I need to work out a conventional pipe installation. It was almost too easy to mount the car pipe as the boat has the 7 litre look and cowl. If performance is close, why not do the same in .21 mono hulls ? Just asking as I do not have enough experience in this aspect.

Haven't tested too many car pipes but they are more rpm and with boats you need a little more torque.
 
Parts acquired through a few estates partially inspired me to look into these riggers. In the last few years read and watched fellow boaters run their 21 JAE riggers in pretty good size water. This finally convinced me to get serious about this. Called Mike Walker up to build my JAE GT. Also ordered the hardware kit with the rigger also. I used most of the parts in this kit so I would say it was a very convenient purchase. Currently using the 8oz tank (6oz was a stretch). The frosted tanks are lighter and more rigid than the clear more flexible tank. The metal tanks were just too heavy. If they provide a benefit, that's a decision one boater must make...weight over performance. Hood cowl, just to hold down the tank. The cowl was too heavy. Besides, if you are careful not to drive through (or being a victim) of a complete hose down, the motor will amazingly continue to run. Aside for the motor, header and pipe I used all parts from the hardware kit. Yes, even the TFL 1450 prop that comes with the hardware kit! The rigger planed and drove like a dream. Adjusted pitch and cup to this propeller and gained a few more mph. Rigger also works with M445, x445, and x645. You'll notice if you raise the strut, you'll lose drive...especially through the corners. Typically, if you blink entering the corner, you' open your eyes exiting the corner. At about 65mph, you're going to have to put your cigarette out. Biggest tuning change to the boat was a pipe change. Ran a lot of car pipes. Didn't really care for them cause they got me all oily. Then I realized that you could run the pipe on the starboard side! Didn't take enough notes and performance wasn't significant enough to continue using those pipes. Forgot to mention that I did run 17xx-xx-xx series propeller successfully. In my experience they required more work to get them to load the motor system properly. Best prop to run with my 21 JAE GT with road car motor...octura x645. 69mph heat trim. 60% nitro. Still got a lot of stuff from the estate still to try. I am currently revisiting set ups that I have tried but with different combinations. Yes, even the car pipes on the starboard side!
 
So here's my version.......thanks to everyone who offered up their advice to help me put this together! Including the flywheel kit , and the water cooled head, I still have under 200.00 in this little project! The motor will either go in a JAE .21 rigger, or a Sport .20 hydro....! Looks good! Almost there! My vote for the JAE rigger. Call Mike up, make him busier. Busier you are the less you worry about this awful pandemic.
Sport 20 is beautiful. 20 hydro gives you the WOW factor.
