Hello ladies/gents. Saw this boat on Facebook marketplace $25 , so I had my brother get it as it was 10min from him. Was gonna hang it in the garage as cool art but curious about the year, model or any info. Anyone recognize it?
Edit: didn't come with a controller. Do they have universal ones?

Cool find!

Any radio system made today (that is as long as you are spending over 30 bucks) will operate the boat.

The motor and drive look ruff.. none the less.. clean the drive and replace the motor and install a "good" radio and HAVE AT IT.. looks like fun!

Guess I came to the right place. Thank you both! So I should replace the engine, not fix it? I'm an automotive mechanic by day so I can do the work just don't want it to snowball into a money pit like all my projects do ;) Is this a nitro motor? Is an eBay controller ok?

yes it is a nitro engine. Can't really tell if it's a .45 or .67 K&B
But from the carb on it, I'm gonna say .67
What it the length of the boat?
Are there Servo's in the radio box?
Rebuilding the engine all depends on what is found once taken apart. As parts availability for that engine will be difficult
 
It's at my brother's house about an hour away so ittl probably be a week before I go get it. I'll keep you all updated. Thank you gentlemen, have a great week

if you are a mechanic im sure you can dis-assemble it and discern if it is still serviceable !! worst case you would probably need a set of crankshaft bearings to get it running .. and they are a common item just get the numbers off them and google them !!!

yes its a nitro motor... id start with 30 - 40 percent fuel if you are a beginner... even if some of the parts are worn you should be able to run it.. maybe not at top performance.. but get some fun practice and experience !

Absolutely I was thinking maybe parts were NLA and that's why he mentioned to replace it
 
the parts probably are NLA but you may get lucky on ebay.... but if it is ok just run it till it doesnt run anymore !! LOL and be careful of the case gaskets u dont want to rip em !

Rod Geraghty (here on IW) has a basement full of K&B parts. Those parts aren't NLA until Rod says they are. ;)

Just for bashing around, a gt3b flysky radio will do you... Aroun 50 bucks on ebay/amazon. However, if you plan on eventually getting into racing it, opt for a brand name, so you're not wasting any money. I've been using a gt3b for a few years with my sports boats with zero issues.

Hello ladies gents, just a quick update. I got the boat from my brother yesterday and yes it is a K&B engine. I've got 3 other projects I'm tryin to tie up and then I'm gonna dig into this. I'll try to keep this updated as fast as possible.

Got to play with the boat today. Motor is deff. Seized thought slight possibility flex drive could be seized but nope. Took head off and piston/ cylinder look immaculate, figured I'd see at least some carbon but maybe nitro is another animal than 2 stroke mix. If I had to guess crank bearings are seized.
