Hi all,

Is there much difference between the OS 21xm and the later version two?

I see some people say the V2 is quicker. Is it really that?

OS's figures give the same HP and RPM which I would have thought makes them fairly close. I see they have different part numbers for components so some slight changes I guess.

I ask as I would not mind another but would prefer the water cooled version. Have not owned the air cooled

Any thoughts appreciated

Depending on your goal.... not a huge difference.

I have a lighting quick V1.. I also have a lighting quick V2.. I like my V2 just a tad more as it exits out of the corner with more authority.

Hi Grim. Just to run on my tunnels. Both of my others are water cooled. I feel a little more comfortable about water cooling over the air cooling. Do they get a bit hot at all the air cooled ones or easier to damage in that respect?

What do you mean by more authority? Do they accelerate that little better?

Cheers

Jeremy,

The air cooled motor is super easy to tune. I have never had any heat related issues with mine.

Yes.. it just pulls harder exiting the turn.

Good to know thanks for that. Perhaps will consider one of them. A little harder to find the water cooled ones now to

Its my opinion after running these engines since the first month they were sold in the US that the best combo is the Water cooled head and the extended (air cooled) muffler. In the IMPBA it is legal to merge parts between the two versions. The straight Ver 2 Air Cooled engine is a touch stronger off the pins as Mike Z. has said but the water cooled head has lasted longer in our part of the country where we race in 95-100 degrees in the summer time.

If you are in a cool part of the country you could run the air cooled head and throw down some killer lap times but if you let that engine sag off (lean) in the turns just a few times you can go ahead and take the hammer to your piggy bank.

Thanks for that Carl useful to know. I think water cooled would suit me.

Perhaps fitting the water cooler head to the air cooler version could be a go, mix and match parts
