Hello all

I’m building the above mentioned boat. Has anyone used this boat as base to build a scale model hydroplane.

Not knowing very much about competing with my new boat what class would I be in if I just build the as is

Thanks for any thoughts about my new boat.

Lee

The boat your building would be for the Classic Thunderboat Class. Using a Stock 26cc Zenoah Engine. You can paint it up as a Scale looking boat but it would not fit any Scale racing classes.

DAMM!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I know, it's misspelled, but I didn't want anyone to think I was using a different word)
I don't have a boat ready to run. IF I can make it, which day is it?

mine is built up as the '71 Miss Madison:

though it's a bit of a "hybrid," it has a Bullitt canopy and a dummy engine from Insane. I run it in IMPBA Thunderboat class since as Samuel Hagan said it's not accurate enough to run as a Gas Scale Unlimited.

Actually, Jim, it's possible, depending on how it was build, for your boat to be raced as a gas scale.
When I compared the IMPBA rulebook to the MHR for gas scale, I found:
LENGTH: Rules require 47-56" while the MHR requires 52.75-55.25"
WIDTH: Rules require a minimum of 22" while the MHR requires 19.01-24.19"
IF your boat is between 22 and 24" wide and meets the length, tunnel, APL and hull depth requirements of the MHR, you could run it as a gas scale.

Hi Mark,

I'll be there at the lake. I had planned on running a boat but we just moved into our home and with the closing and moving I've just not had time to get the boat ready to go. I still don't have pit gear ready and just plain am not ready to run a boat. I do want to meet folks and see how a race is conducted so I can be ready for future races. Our home is within walking distance of Lake Wauhop so this is going to be great fun. I've also had a good deal of help from Jerry Dunlap as well. I have super help available when I'm needing it.

Thanks,

Lee
