Terry it is not flouro. The folks at my PPG mixed it. You do have to keep the paint mixed up.

The various colors and tints did tend to separate

Doc is the boat all carbon or is the carbon over plywood? It looks great!! I have built some JAE's out of carbon over end grain balsa core for the tub sides with plywood deck and bottom sheet. It has stood up well as a 90 boat.

Thanks Tim

Brad it is a sandwich. Cf Divinycell CF Divinycell 1/64 plywood

Mark Bullard came up with the sandwich
We have built a large number of boats using this methodology and they are extremely strong and light.

We had twins break in the past but not for years since building them with this technique

Progress: RADIO INSTALLED

NEXT: install shaft tubes, then oilers(Woods-racing), then Deleon adjuster blocks, boom tubes then set up with skis

A lot still to do.

Looks good Doc. Are you going to use wire drives, cables, or hard shafts? In your twin setups, do you use one or two receivers?

Thanks.

Flex shafts will be used. I use oilers and not grease. The shafts completely coated with an emulsion of the oil and water. Looks like mayonnaise when the shaft is pulled. No “black” or skip areas that is seen using grease. With oil the shafts are extremely free.

I run 2 receivers and have done so for several years.

I had a twin years ago due to my error take off on launch jump out of the lake go across a side walk and stop about 2-3 ft in front of a lady walking on the sidewalk.

I think with twins, their speeds and wt/mass we need to do everything to keep them safe and stay in the lake

I have two completely separate receivers batteries and switches. Rudder on one system. Throttle and mixture control on the other system

I usually run the mixture on the rudder receiver. That way you can shut it down and not have to run wide open with the lose of throttle and it is pinned. Easy to run a lean setting and drop a motor. Or jsut fatten it up if you dont want to hurt it. Happens so little that we lose one, I like to have the piece of mind being able to blow that plug and drop a motor. Nothing like having a 15 lbs out of control death machine. If the weight does not kill you, the sharps aint gonna do you any good as well.

Years ago Mark Anderson advocated dual receivers as well in a 90 rigger. Mike Bontoft ran twin receivers in his quickdraw powered Eagle. With today's radios it's probably overkill, but I still think it's a good idea in heavy, fast boats. I wish more people would consider it.

Absolutely agree Lohring! Every heat race twin I build get dual rx's, been that way since the first one.

With most of todays newest radios you can no longer do it. They will only bind one receiver to one model number and that is it. The receiver isn't bound to the radio it is bound to the model number. No way to run dual receivers.

You are somewhat correct about the binding. It depends on the receiver you use

I am using a 4PX AND I AM USING TWO RECEIVERS. They are Futaba and don’t have a registering number and I could put any number in the boat, a receiver for each channel being 4

CHECK THE MANUAL, and it tells what receivers work with the 4PX and the 7px

As long as the system allows the use of a C2 FASST RX.. you can use more the one..

This might true with others (FHSS) as well as long as your not in T-FHSS mode.. I need to look into this further.

And then,

I have seen A TON of nasty fast Gas Sport Hydros and not a one I have seen has used redundant RXs..

They are large
They are fast
They are Heavy

I dont use redundant systems in my 5000 dollar helicopters ether.. so.. to me.. its more proper install, current equipment (surface mount electronics) and let her eat.

To me.. one is enough. MAKE MINE FUTABA!

Problem with failsafe is a power failure. No power to the receiver, No failsafe. This would be a good separate topic so it does not hijack Doc's thread. My feelings on dual receivers has changed in recent years. I run two batteries and two switches in my giant scale aircraft.
