Has anyone tried using the Prevail sprayer to paint the entire boat? I use KlassKote and have been applying the paint with a touch up gun. But I do not like the cleanup part. If the spray quality is acceptable, I want to give it a try. Inexpensive enough to throw away. No cleanup.

Thanks,
kez

I have never used one to spray paint or epoxy... But have used many times to spray gel coat.
As the propellant can is used it becomes VERY cold, the siphon tube running through the center of it would make the gel coat spray to start sputtering as it exited the spray tip.
making it "splatter" the gel coat

One thing you have to remember is a Prevail sprayer was meant for quick touch ups. While it may work fine, as stated above, you may need several to complete a full hull paint job

I also have used the prevail sprayer to paint boats,I did find out that you must thin the paint at least 50% to keep the splatter out, I have painted 3 boats with the same pressure sprayer.

Thanks guys for your replies. I tried it this weekend on a test piece. I noticed that the pressure is much lower than a standard rattle can. In fact, it almost works like a HVLP gun. I can see why I need to thin the paint. I am surprised that it can spray gel coat. Yes, after a while, the pressure canister gets cold and lost pressure. But that is expected. I have also found that the siphon tube is not deep enough so there is about an ounce of paint that will be wasted.
