Super cool video I stumbled on to on YouTube! I would love to see the setup on this, I believe I remember the breakthrough hulls being based from australia? Had to have a great machinist for something like this

Not so much the video proof, I’ve personally not seen either the 42 inch tunnel or someone actually having a working 1inch motor conversion. More curious to see what their setup and design looks like.
Shane and the crew had the Novarossi .91’s converted over that were nasty fast but the lawless lowers couldn’t handle the power, I wonder if they’ve had the same issues with these or they figured a way around it.

Ahh... To be honest, I thought it was a Gas Tunnel. Are you sure its a NR.91? Looked like a purple head CMB to me now that ive watched it a few times. Also looked/sounded like a gear drive?

Nevermind... now I see the title. 1" CMB.

Im a little slow on the uptake sometimes.

That looks like an old AMPS lower unit. Gears will not live. You can hear the gears howling already.

I hadn’t even noticed the lower unit, my first guess would be an arrow shark gear driven lower, considering it’s a newer design.
Same dilemma though, I believe it was Ron Shaw that had one for one of his first gas outboards that ate through the gears like it was nothing. They cut the video off at an odd time, you can hear the sound change as it goes to black so some malfunction must have occurred

I think Ron bought the motor setup off that . Cmb 1.0 on a conversion like a Ernie 45 One

That’s brad running at hopetoun- he would have been with Ken Retallick as ken lives next to that lake and may have made the conversion. I can’t recall which lower he had, the pipe was a custom carbon pipe and the hull has an awesome paint job- pics wouldn’t do it justice

Cool to hear guys! I have not seen the MHZ lowers up close, definitely have heard that they seem to be a much better piece than the arrowshark's. Great work as always Ken, the rods you made for us a couple years back are still running strong!
Hopefully Brad can chime in, I know he does not mess with RC boats too much anymore. I'd love to see the boat, it looks like its a beauty

Here are some photos of the MHZ gas size lower unit. They offer this model in two styles. A clutch type for gas, and non clutch for FE and it includes the motor collet as well. Further down, you will see this large gas size MHZ next to MHZ's newer release, which is smaller, designed for FE, and includes the Merc ROS 400 cowling. The other outboard in the pics is a typical speedmaster Amps Evinrude F1 outboard. to me, that is a small boat for this size lower to use. Its possible it was another lower unit brand. This outboard is smaller than the Arrow Shark for those wondering. The picture with the tunnel, that is a 51" tunnel, so a 42" tunnel seems small for this!

Julio, the hull was a ‘one off’ breakthrough. I doubt if another one will ever be made. The lower if MHz, would be one of the earlier ones which were better from memory. That boat will rarely see daylight

That is the MHZ lower unit from one of their current Z drives, with a custom top end on it. Quality lower unit and gears in that one for sure. They now upgraded the gears to a helical gear instead of straight cut, so even stronger than the previous generations.

... what a shame… it looked like a good boat...
Well, in that case... what hull do you recommend me to that kind of engine?
NOT for competitions... just for fun...
Thanks.-

Maybe one of the ml boatworks amps hulls may be worth looking at. There is not much available in the 40-50 inch range. You could scale up some 45ob plans, that is the easiest way. I’m not sure on the length of the nx 400, but going by the name I presume 40 inch, that would be worth a look at too.
