Mark...i will get you a pic of the saw....you will really like that...both bought when I was really young following J.D. airplane builds....im sure the quality is better now...but...they serve just as good ...

Thanks everyone for the pics and added input...so today after work I pulled out the ol trusty Mongomery ward mini jig saw and the dremel belt sander and started a "kit" if you will....just a note to new folks following along...when laying out your templats to cut..leave room for sanding..I wouldn't recommend butting two parts up just to save a cut...just my .02 cent worth....I enjoy cutting the kit first and making sure all match the templats and then the plans...so after cutting the kit I was sanding the parts and the belt broke on the sander..I will pickup another after work today...

Interesting to see all the parts cut and laid out. I've always "cut and glued" as I built my WOF tunnels.

Thats the cool thing about model building....each person has there own way to do it...and should yield the same end result...
 
High everyone...
A trip to the box store and new 1x30" 80 grit sanding belts...
I also did a final sand on all the wood pieces and assembled the build jig..
I used Poplar for the jig...
Also started the sponsons...cut to shape and will glue the sponson side formers on...just a note...I found that the foam can be cut to 2.75" wide and save a lot of sanding...
And dont forget to make a left and right side...
Oh btw...would anyone be interested in the cost as I go along....?

When more pieces are glued to the spoons, make sure to keep it STRAIGHT. You might think it is, but it can and will curve on you.
 
Ok Mark and thanks for the heads up...
Also I never worked with Gorilla glue..
So here is a sample of the reaction it has when following the instructions...all pics are within 20 minutes from the initial start...

This is a cross section after cure...
I think I will give this a shot...its a lot different that wood glue or epoxy...I'm wondering what the expansion may do to the squareness of the sponson

Think I used 1/2" aluminum solid angle, length as needed, to keep the spoon straight. Put a few pieces of tape to keep the wood where it needs to be, then add the angle and tape that up as well. Anything that is solid, flat, can't bend easy will work to keep the spoons straight.

Working a "frame" kit is so much easier..

When putting the top on, CA three 1/8" square pieces down. One at the back end, the others top/bottom. These are there to hold the top in place while it sets. Also, it won't allow the top to move on you.

Pic is the bottom being layed up on a NX-400 build. Should give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

Being that I have no assembly manual..and there has been a lot of interest in the W.O.F. build plans...I want to have a in-depth build...
Julio....get some wood and build along...plans are no charge....just saying..
 
Back in the day, used epoxy since gorilla was kinda new, untried. My last builds were all done with gorilla. Wouldn't go back to epoxy if you paid me to..

Marty, glad I could be of some inspiration and help back then. Helping here where I can.

I've got the planes of the W.O.F. 34... I´m currently in physical rehabilitation after a car accident.
As soon as I can, I will start the construction of this tunnel…
I promise it

Hello everyone...
While the sponsons are curing ..I decided to move onto the center section..
Wax paper down on the building jig..and lay out the bottom sheeting ...I cut the center section formers in a stack of 4 pieces and drilled a locating hole to stack them with a small shot of spray adhesive to hold them together as I cut them out and sanded them to size...well the location hole worked to my advantage and I will show you why shortly...

Oh...and these are the high tech workhorses that I use to build with..both of there are easy 40+ years old...well not the hand sander....

Did you drill those same holes into the spoon inside sheet? That is a critical step to insure the spoons line up properly to the center section.
